The Norton Shakespeare Third Edition

This book comes with a code to use Norton online which is great because I don't have to carry this huge book everywhere if I don't want to. And online I'm able to listen to some of the acts and see some other cool stuff like the original script. The annotations online are also easier to read because you scroll over the phrases and see them side by side.

Bought it used, and it arrived in good condition. Has useful editions of Shakespeare's works

I ordered this paperback version for class because the hardback edition my teacher asked for was sold out and this is the only book Amazon had listed as it's "paperback edition." Do not make the same mistake I did and buy only this book, the second volume that completes the set is ISBN- 978-0393938586. If possible, I suggest buying the giant hardback as it is nicer looking, and cheaper to buy it on its own than buying the two volumes separately.

The content microscopically details Shakespeare and properly identifies the various sources that are used to create modern Shakespeare, with a digital download included. It is simply 5 star content and presentation. I cannot however feel I am being ripped off paying $50 for a cheap, fat paper back version that will not handle heavy reading and will quickly fall apart. Buyer beware.

The paperback version seems to be a good deal until you get it, realize there is a volume 2 not included (it is in the hardcover version) and spend half an hour panicking because you need it for a class!! DO NOT BUY THIS! Just buy the online version because otherwise you will be sent only half of what you thought you were paying for.*For anyone who has bought the paperback version and realized they need the other half in order to do school work, use the online code and you will have access.But again, why send a book if you don't include the full version????????

I thought the paperback version would have more of Shakespeare's plays that I needed for class. Either I am blind or Othello and King Lear are missing from the paperback. I'm not sure if the hard cover is different, because most of my classmates have the hard copy which looks just like the one shown here, and they're in there.

I needed a copy of THE NORTON SHAKESPEARE: ESSENTIAL PLAYS for my class. I looked at the paperback's price and decided to get it in favor of the hardcover. However, what I got was NOT a paperback of the book I wanted. It was a different edition! I wish the Essential plays edition and the edition I ended up getting were listed differently....Since I broke the plastic I can't return it, and I have to go and buy the edition that I need. So disappointed.

I was happy with how quickly it came however I found out, after I bought it, that if you get paper back you only get the first half, so you have to buy 2 books. Whilr the hardback is the complete work
