The reviews are true
This is a great desk. It's very beautiful and just the right size for my corner office area. I read the reviews before my purchase. They were right about one thing... assembling this thing is a challenge! Put together plenty of stuff before, so I figured I could manage. I was wrong. The instructions suck. It was a frustrating process. (Maybe that's why I love the desk so much??) That being said, it's a great desk once it's put together. I also recommend a desk blotter or some type of barrier. It's real wood and marks/scratches will be an issue.

It took two hours for one person to assemble and was not easy, but not impossible either
Typing this review on the desk right now! True to size and color and fits perfectly in our kitchen area. When it arrived, I worried that it looked cheap from the pictures on the box. However, every piece inside is solid wood and looks much more expensive than it actually was. It took two hours for one person to assemble and was not easy, but not impossible either. If you need a desk to fit a laptop, a few papers or chargers in a smaller space, this is a great choice.

Do yourself a favor, and keep browsing for your next desk.
This product is poorly designed and requires you to drill holes. I’ve put things like this together for years when I was a kid working at a retail store, so reviews about complications don’t often deter me. I read several reviews and considered them, but with the desk price reduced to $112 from $179, I jumped on it anyway. I thought I was getting a quality desk.***Note: I expected a $179 desk for $112, but instead, I received a $112 desk for $112. (The regular price projected quality and in my opinion, is deceitful).- The back isn’t shown in the picture, but it’s thin cardboard with wood vinyl. You nail it on the backside to cover the entire length of the desk. Not a problem if you face it to the wall, but worth considering if you’re stubborn enough to buy this thing. (I was). The desktop has the pre-drilled holes blocked by the other wooden pieces. I had to drill new holes to secure the top. (Screws were missing and I had to purchase some to complete the assembly).I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but unfortunately, this product is not worth the money, the hassle, or the time. You’ll want to return it, but after you got it out of the box, you will never get it back in. For that reason alone, you will endure the complications and the frustrations until it’s complete. If you don’t break the parts, strip the screws, or destroy it while trying to force it together, you will have a desk that serves its purpose. However, every day you will look at this thing, and it will bring you flashbacks of the rage you endured putting it together. Every day you will wrestle with either replacing it or burning it. Yes, you will want to burn it, because merely taking a hammer to it and throwing it away just doesn’t seem to be enough. Your deepest desire will be to reduce this thing to carbon and smoke. Then again, maybe I'm projecting here. 😆

A pain to assemble, not as nice as expected
The other reviews about assembly issues are completely true. I blame this on confusing instructions. If one was to follow the instructions perfectly this would be impossible to assemble. A power screwdriver nor drill is a must, but be careful it's easy to over drive screws. I have a couple little holes in the desk top from this. Also it is not as sturdy as I had hoped it has a little wobble in it. It looks nice and I am generally happy with the results, and I'm happy that it's solid wood. That being said, for the money I was expecting something a little better.

Nice laptop desk
It looks nice and is a nice height. The drawer is sufficient to hold pens and scrap paper and charging cables. The box was thrashed when it arrived, but the parts inside were packed well and protected and none of them had dings or scratches. One star subtracted for assembly issues. Some of the pre-drilled holes don't line up, but that's easily fixed with a bit of tugging. What's not easily fixed are the issues with attaching the top. Pocket holes for screws are placed in areas where you either have to have a teeny length screwdriver or one that can screw around a corner. I don't. Also there are no starter holes for those screws on the base of the top. I ended up drilling through the pocket and into the top at a more reasonable angle, and then attaching that way. It worked, but honestly a few cam screws would have been very appreciated in those corners.

Fantastic desk for the price
I'm typing this review from my new desk - and I've got to say, it's a really sharp looking desk!I purchased a "open box" version from Amazon Warehouse. No discernible difference, the package looked like a brand new retail package, and the desk had no markings from having been assembled previously. So OK, you are probably reading these reviews, wondering why people love or hate this desk. People who hate this desk probably can't get it assembled right. It's medium complicated to assemble. If you are reasonably handy, you can do it - no need to be a carpenter. Another reviewer recommended purchasing a $5-$10 wood clamp to get really tight connections, and that was a very useful (necessary?) tool to assemble the desk. A power drill to drive screws will also be necessary to get really tight connections. If you can settle for a minorly wobbly desk, maybe you can do it with just a screwdriver, but why not spend the extra $5er and get a real nice desk? :)My desk is assembled, feels just as solid as any desk at Ikea, and the open box version was about $90. The entire desk (with the exception of the bottom of the slide out drawer) is hardwood, and it looks and feels great. So yeah, $90 for a piece of hardwood furniture, this is a no brainer. If you want a cheap, nice, smallish desk, this one is a great piece.
