Well worth the cost!
I tried one of the no-name cheap $10 chargers. I left four 18650 3.4Ah batteries on the charger overnight for more than 12 hours and still hadn’t topped off a single battery. I decided to splurge on this charger, the XTAR VC45L, and I’m really glad I did. It’s definitely worth every dollar. This charger tackled four similar 18650 batteries in a matter of a few hours! Wow, what a relief. I drained the batteries and tried again. Same results - about 4 hours to top off four drained batteries. This is critical to my Scuba dive trips. My two underwater camera flood lights take four 18650 batteries each. My torch uses two 18650 batteries. That’s 10 big batteries that need recharging in 16 hours to be ready for the next day’s dives. This charger can muscle through them all in good time. The added features that check capacity and battery health are frosting on top of the cake. Great charger!

XTAR VC4SL Battery Charger exceeded expectations
The XTAR VC4SL Battery Charger works well. I recharged an 18650 battery from a flashlight that needed a recharge and the XTAR VC4SL recharged it. Next, I decided to give it a bit tougher challenge. I had an old laptop battery pack that was sitting in the computer bag for years It would not take a charge. I disassembled the battery pack removed the four18650 cells. I installed the four batteries in the XTAR VC4SL Battery Charger and changed to mode to CUR (current). All four of the batteries from the dead battery pack came back to a full charge. I'm sold, this thing is a keeper!

Just buy this one!
Don't bother with those "chargers" that are half the price of this one. You'll eventually end up buying this one. Just buy this one and save yourself the money.I mistakenly thought that all chargers were created equal. I too bought a $10 charger that everyone said was the best. Only to later find out that it wasn't, and those $10 chargers only work with the like branded batteries that cost far more than anyone else. I like to save the planet and save money. So just buy this one and save yourself money and a headache later.

Works well and I appreciate the extra features
I recently purchased this battery charger and have had some time to test it out. I really like the fact that it connects via USBC and that it can take a variety of battery sizes, more than my old battery charger good. I was able to use it to test the capacity of some of my older cells, which are fortunately still in reasonably good shape. The only thing that I wish it had that it doesn't is the ability to stop the charge voltage earlier, at 4.1 volts or lower to increase battery life span.

The best I have seen
Very good charger with a lot of display information and a lot of charging capabilities.

Just works
This is the most “just works” product I’ve used in quite some time. I use it to charge 18650s, 21700s, nimh AAs and AAAs. The only battery it can’t do is 1.5v lithiums.I like that it can charge 4 batteries at a time at 1 amp, many of the competitors are limited to 500mA when charging 4 at a time. It has a battery grade feature for measuring the actual capacity of the battery which is really nice for checking how much juice is left in older batteries and for matching pairs of new batteries. The internal resistance measurement is more an estimate than an exact measurement. It tends to vary quite a bit even on the same battery at the same charge level. But it works for comparing roughly. The key thing to remember is despite some minor shortcomings, this charger does its job VERY well for 99% of people. You’re going to have to spend over $100 to find something with more or better features or more accurate measurements. For $33 this can’t be beat.

Best brand I've found..
This charger has handled everything I've thrown at it without issue. I use it daily and leave it plugged in. I will update this review if anything changes.

Terrible for many reasons
Terrible. Why? Many reasons:1) The display looks nifty but it essentially tells you nothing. How much charge it added without context is not very interesting. The internal resistance? Who cares? All I care about is how full the battery is, and that's the one thing it doesn't display. Also, the display is very confusing to read, so another reason it's pointless.2) Most importantly, it does not actually charge the battery. Yes, I know, how can that be? All this is supposed to do is charge a battery. For months I was blaming the "cheaper" brand of rechargeable batteries that I charged to FULL, but then they were drained immediately. I put the "dead" batteries back in this charger and within 60 seconds, it said they were "FULL". Really?3) It frequently detects my brand-new batteries as defective/broken and stops. I remove and reinsert and it errors out. I remove and reinsert and, magically, they are no longer broken. So whatever algorithms this thing uses to understand battery state is clearly not working. After many months of thinking the batteries were defective, I bought some high-end brand-named rechargeable batteries. Same thing in this charger. So I bought a high-quality Panasonic charger with a proper battery level display. Sure enough, they actually charged! Now I realize it was this pathetic excuse for a charger that was never actually charging anything.I really couldn't recommend more that you look elsewhere for a bonafide quality charger. I recommend the Panasonic one for almost the same price which has a great display and....ready for this...it actually works.
