Great feedback
This stone cuts well and gives great feedback letting you know when your off your angle. It cuts pretty fast and leaves a good scratch pattern you'd expect for 2000 grit. The price is decent considering it will last for a very long time. It also doesn't have the issue of missing coverage you get with diamond stones particularly DMT stones.

Excellent intermediate stone
I had the Shapton Pro 1000 and 5000 grit stones and a 320 grit DMT Diamond Stone to set the initial edge. I was getting good and consistent results with this combination but felt that I just wasn’t getting the sharp but reasonably durable and longer lasting edge that I wanted. I also have a ceramic sharpening rod of 2000 grit that I use to touch up the edge in between sharpenings with my stones. I was actually improving the edge beyond the initial stone sharpening so I thought that using a 2000 grit stone would improve the initial edge. I bought this Shapton Pro 2000 and sharpened my four most used knives using the entire stone sequence of 320/1000/2000/5000. Each of my knives, a stainless steel Japanese Santoku, a Henckel Chef knife, a Henckel utility knife and a flexible Victorinox boning knife had the best edges that I have ever been able to produce. They all have very sharp, very smooth edges that seem to be very durable so far. I will continue to use my ceramic rod to touch up the edges but if I didn’t have it I would touch it up with this Shapton 2000 grit. This was an excellent addition to my original stones and therefore for me was an excellent value.
