Helpful for Eastern Mediterranean music
I find I need different hardnesses of reeds for different styles of music. I use 1.0 or 1.5 for Greek or Turkish music, and 2.0 for Bulgarian and maybe 2.5 for Klezmer. I love the fact that I don't have to moisten these. They just play straight away. I have found with a considerable amount of play, the softer reeds will start to lose the plastic coating in small flakes. They still are viable for a long time after the black plastic starts to degrade, but it's noticeable after several months.
