MQTT explained clearly!
This is a great book to get to understand and use the MQTT protocol. It clearly explains the communication process between server and client. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to use MQTT 😊

Book covers most of the information I was looking for but
There is an index in the front which references to page numbers. But none of the pages in the book have number on them. There are paragraphs numbers which can be used to find the paragraph if you need to read/review.There are code references but the code description refers to code that is not in the coding example that is shown. Its OK as a single read, but because there is no page number, its no good to reference back to the book without having to look at the whole paragraph. There is a section '4.1.5 Resources' which says - quote 'This video takes you through the basics of MQTT.' The word video is underscored. So, one assumes, this is a link for the online version of the book to take you to the video. Can I just give the author a pointer- A link doesn't work in a paper book without giving the link address it referees to. Sorry but this is just basics. The contents corrected some of the information I had been missing, but its a hard read and probably a book I will never use a a quick reference.More attention to detail is needed to be taken and its unforgivable not to number the page in a book.

Decent but not flawless by any means
Decent guide that's fairly easy to understand. However, the depth is pretty limited, and there were a couple of areas where info was self contradictory or badly formatted in a way that was likely to mislead. Focus on the implementation details of the protocol might also not be relevant to most consumers of MQTT libraries, particularly breakdowns at bit level. It wouldn't be a problem these being included as likely they will be important to some, but not entirely sure a book with a title like 'For Complete Beginners' should have led with these. At least not without at some suggestions for further reading. Also, don't really expect to be able to get up and running with MQTT just by using this book as it doesn't really have any substantial walkthroughs. Not bad for the price though.

Good book on the basics
Simple book to read. Clear and direct and realistic advice about why you would want to configure different options. Quite comprehensive on low level protocols and good security, a little light on app level examples but that would probably be more suitable for a more expensive and full blown book on Matt. Good value

Wta....
What have I bought? I'm sure it's content is worthy of the low price but please don't be fooled, like I was by the low price. There are snippets of code with letters missing, a mixture of fonts, what appears to be a poor photocopy in other places, and more. It gives me eyestrain as I try to navigate the pages. Well done to Stephen for publishing something that should have received a little more attention to detail before being released. I'm not sure what to do with it...
