I chose the option with the pre-installed drive. Comes with the drives done up in RAID0. Works great! 300-380mbps on thunderbolt

Q: Would I be able to take a pair of mirrored drives from another enclosure and install them in this product without losing the data on the drives?

Hello! Most likely, putting already formatted drives in this enclosure would end up resetting the RAID and delete the data off of the drives. I would recommend backing up any data first before attempting to do so. Even if the enclosures are using the same controller, there's going to be a risk of data loss.
