Can I tumble rocks we find at the park or do they have to be these special rocks?

You can tumble any rocks you’d like, I suggest you get a rock identification app, plus a hardness chart. The rocks you tumble need to be the same hardness or the softer rocks will disappear… this is a lot of fun and the outcome is beautiful

Can this tumbler be used to polish metal washers?

Based on two factors, yes it can. #1 The washer must be a metal that could be polished in a conventional method, such as a buffing machine. #2 That you are using a powder made for polishing. I will add that I do not recommend polishing metal items in a tumbler,
