AT&T Corded Answering System w/ Large Display

The display has never worked. And the ring is barely able to be heard...

I actually really like this phone, but the wringer does not ring when someone calls. I actually ordered a second one as i thought it was a one off, but the exchanged phone does the same thing so i sent it back. I also posted this question on here and i had 3-4 others telling me they had the same issue. So aside from the phone not ringing when someone calls, its a good phone, I just can't believe they are shipping these phones, they must know there is an issue with.And YES i tested everything and no the ringer is not on mute...

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. It is a piece of junk. Where do I start. The headset crackles so I replaced the cord. It still crackles. It does not ring on incoming calls. I set the volume still doesn't work. So I plugged in my old phone and everything works.So why did I waster my money on a piece of junk? I didn't know. Now you know. So din't buy this!

This is a really nice phone for me. It has just the features I wanted and no silly gimmicks that I don't use.I especially like the embedded speakerphone and answering machine functions, now there's a lot less junk on the corner of my desk.Buyers should be aware that the user manual supplied with the phone is "abridged". (i.e. only half there) The full manual can be downloaded from AT&T here... https://att.vtp-media.com/products/CL/CL4940/CL4940_CA_CIB_i7.1_20161230.pdfThe full manual is great... gives you all the settings with easy to follow step by step instructions and explains any special cases, like the area codes on call display, very clearly.When you get the phone the best thing to do after hooking it up is to hit the "Menu/Select" button and review every setting in the menu. Get familiar with them as you will need them to maintain your phone book, answering machine and call display functions. It took me about 10 minutes to set it up exactly as I want it... and from there, well, it's a pretty good phone...There are a couple of especially nice features...1) If you hit speed dial before picking up the handset you can see a list of who's on speed dial and preselect your call so that when you pick up, it will dial automatically. If you leave it in that state, it times out in about 2 minutes and returns to the ready display.2) If you dial a number while it's on hook then pick up, it will automatically dial the number. Like the speed dial, this times out after a couple of minutes and takes you back to the ready screen.3) The Equalizer feature is very helpful for calls with background noise, particularly cell phones.4) Deleting your messages is easy ... press Delete twice... all done.The only drawback, so far, is there's no battery backup for the memory. If the phone loses AC power you will lose all your settings and messages.Overall it is a very well thought out landline phone.It is very well constructed and sturdy.I can easily recommend this phone to anyone..

It's a great phone and the numbers are large so I don't have to squint. I don't like the fact that on the screen it shows the model "CL4940" which I still haven't figured out how to get rid of. The only other thing I haven't figured out is for the phone to show me how many messages I have waiting. It doesn't blink or anything to show I have messages on my phone. Other then my lack of time to figure these things out, it is a terrific phone and I would purchase it again.

I like the sound quality and the user friendly design. My only wish is that the phonebook had a larger capacity.
