I have given this item 5 stars because that is all there are - had there been 6 stars - I would have given it 6 stars.I have owned this machine for some time now and feel well qualified to review it. I use it in conjunction with a Cricut Maker to make many varied cards for friends, family, charity and 'Garden Gate' salesThe machine is compact, strong, and well-built. A touch heavy maybe but as an octogenarian I can still manage to lift it.It takes very little time (and then a bit more for confidence) to learn how to use it.It both cuts and embosses so, for an avid card-maker like me it is a must. My cards have taken on a much more professional appearance since I started using it and they sell well at my garden gate.The only downside that I can see is that the plates are marked with every use so do eventually need to be changed.I would also add that my machine is in constant (almost daily ) use so of course I should expect to change the plates rather more frequently than most.I choose to use the official Sizzix plates as they are strong and made specifically for this machine, I do, however, always look out for special offers and buy in advance of need.I have no hesitation in recommending this Bigshot Switch Plus it has brought me much pleasure

after 5 weeks I cannot use my machine unless I buy for £30 a new set of plates which is not good enough and nearly £240 I am not happy with and would like to return it as I can no longer use it as the plates are so warped I cannot get them into the machine,

This machine is amazing, I've tried several die cutting machines, and this one does seem to have the better cut. The only problem is the plates. I understand plates are a consumable, however I've had the machine less than 2 months and I've just ordered my third set of plates.

I bought this as a present for an experience crafter. She was very pleased with it and said it was the most reliable machine she had ever used. It cut dies easily and with precision at the first attempt . She said she wished she had known about the machine earlier, as it would have saved a lot of time and money, and wouldn't use any other machine now.

SIZZEX STAY CLEAR OF ELECTRIC MACHINES, your manual are far superior

I love the fact this machine does reverse which is great when die cutting. It looks good, with plain smooth lines and curves. It’s a considered purchase and one I’m glad I made. I’m not disappointed.

Using a manual die cutting machine for over 20 years, I thought I would never need an electric one. But I was finding the whole cranking by hand getting more and more difficult. I am glad I did my research and decided on this one. It's a dream. Nice sleek design and great functionality.
