Very good wheel for the money.
I put this wheel on a vintage Schwinn touring bike I rebuilt after failing to find a suitable vintage wheel for the bike.It arrived well packaged and was true out of the box.Based on reviews I read I decided to check the bearings and they were sufficiently greased and properly seated.I installed a freewheel and put it on the bike. After adjustments to the derailleur I took a test ride and it was perfect. In the past month I have put several hundred miles on the bike with this new wheel and it's perfect. It rolls smoothly, has remained true and solid.I will definitely be buying again for my next bike rebuild.

Packaging was good and it arrived in 1 piece
Decently and inexpensive wheel. Used it to replace a wheel on my old road bike. Packaging was good and it arrived in 1 piece. The cones were a bit tight but the wheel was true out of the box. The quick release skewer is of good quality. I only had some trouble fitting a suntour 5 speed freewheel to it. So if you buy this then definitely make sure you check your rear derailleur after installation and perform adjustments as neccessary. Overall though it is an excellent replacement for old chromed steel wheels, mostly because of weight and braking performance.

Great for an old 1970's road bicycle upgrade
As long as the price is right, I will be coming back for more of these wheels as I restore my old road bikes. This rear wheel can be fitted with a 6 or 7 speed freewheel, which they still make. Performance wise they work well and have to be trued every once in a while just like any other bicycle rim. Once you break these wheels in they generally hold their true for longer. Great wheel for the price.

Rim
The rim wasn’t ‘true’ when received and the inter tube valve didn’t fit through the hole in the rim. I made the hole bigger and took the rim to a bike shop, spent $45 to have it trued. After a 15 mile ride the rim was out of true again. I took it back to the bike shop, had it trued again which lasted one ride. Very disappointed with the rim!

Value wheel for your old bikes
I bought this wheel to replace the one on my 1991 Technium. Wheel came straight. It is assembled in the US, which is ok, but the adds say Made in USA and the rim clearly says made in China on it. Anyway it is a great replacement for my bike and I like the way it rides. I checked the grease in the bearings, as recommended by some reviewers, and found it to be plenty full.

Wheel needed to be trued after installation
This wheel appears to be well-made and has held up well under tough use thus far in San Francisco. However, I noticed that the wheel wasn't true and needed to be adjusted by the bike mechanic who installed them, which was annoying.

Basic/affordable/reliable 27" replacement wheel.
The perfect replacement wheel for the casual rider. Make sure you check r. derailleur adj. after, the spacing is generic/general.A friend needed me to replace his wheel and this was the least expensive available. Could have just swapped-out the rim, but considering age of hub, decided not-to.You get what you pay for. In this case, more for less, if you know how to do the adjustments necc.I would have given 4-stars except the wheel came needing to be trued/dished/& hub--adj., to be expected when saving this kind of money,(because a decent bike shop would do this for you for no extra cost,(labor is built-in-to cost before giving it to you). Because you can't rely on factory settings,( as-is w/ all bikes as well)and coming from Niagara Cycles, with whom I'll NEVER do business with again. A more recent experience w/them,.. EVEN WORSE!.I'll buy this wheel again, just NOT from Niagara Cycles.
