Easy installation / setup and works flawlessly
I don't understand why Chamberlain / LiftMaster / etc. hates their customers, but removing HomeKit compatibility from their garage door openers is so frustrating. Luckily the Meross solutions solves the problem perfectly.Setup & installation was easy -- and their support was fast & helpful when I had questions. It turns out I needed an adaptor for my specific opener, and they sent it out immediately. The person who helped me was kind & patient as I tried to explain my question as best I could, and quickly figured out what I needed.Installation & setup took all of a few minutes, including placing the open/closed sensor, and it... just works! It shows up in my Home app, it responds to Siri, it shows up in CarPlay, and it works with Scenes & Automations. Basically, I don't even have to think about it anymore - everything just works. The included cables were more than long enough for my needs, and gave me lots of options for installation. This was a nice touch, given how vastly different the various garage doors I've had over the years. They also included lots of screws & double-stick mounting tape, making it easy to keep everything looking tidy and neat, no matter how I needed to mount things. Really thoughtful.

Works as advertised. Much better than a clicker.
Device installation was straightforward and instructions sufficient; although, I wonder why it couldn't be connected near the existing hard-wired opener switch. It seems that would avoid the need to use a ladder. Wifi connectivity was easy. I already had an extender in my garage so I have a strong signal. Setting up Alexa was a little more challenging. It seems to matter with Alexa that the app be running on your phone before you ask her to operate the door. In my Alexa-enabled truck, it seems more predictable. Alexa requires a 4-digit verbal code when opening. I can open the garage door hands-free while entering my driveway. Using Google is more confusing. "Hey Google. Open garage door." brings a response that it can't perform a task that requires a pin and tells me to use Google Home app, instead. That makes it much less useful when driving your vehicle into the driveway and wanting the garage door opened. This is not a comment on Meross, but rather the Google app. People smarter than I can probably figure out how to make Google open the door hands-free. For installation, you will need insulated staples and/or wire ties to keep the sensor wire secure.

If you say "hey Siri" and have a garage, you should get this.
This works great. For some reason, my garage remote doesn't work from a distance like it used to, but I don't care. I love that when I watch my Apple TV or am on the phone, I get notifications that my garage opened or shut. I also love that my kids can get in the garage with their phones, because that's the one thing they don't seem to lose. This keeps them from needing a key, and I don't have to leave a door unlocked. Your phone must be unlocked for security reasons to work. This is nice because I have a HomePod in my garage to listen to music, so I don't have to worry about people trying to open my garage with their voice. This also means your phone needs to be unlocked from the car, but the new Apple Watch Ultra 2 with Siri enabled takes care of that, so I don't have to touch my phone at all. If you live in the Apple environment like I do, you will love it. As with everything, the setup of Apple Home was terrific. If you can change an outlet in your home, this is a breeze to install as long as you have a ladder.

Easy install, alexa integration and app have some shortcomings
UPDATE 02-28-2025: This is a big shout-out for Meross customer service. My old Liftmaster motor burned out, and I had it replaced with a new Chamberlain model, only to learn that my Meross opener was not compatible with my new lift motor without an additional accessory. I contacted Meross customer service, and they immediately sent me the accessory free of charge. It arrived less than a week after calling them. It was very easy to hook up, and now my Meross opener is again working with the app and Alexa. Keeping the original 4-star rating however as I continue to hope Meross will add a feature to keep sending me reminders when I forget to close the garage until I actually do it. As it stands now I just get the one reminder, and if I don't see it or space it, I don't get another and the door remains open.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Installation was pretty straightforward on my 20+ year-old Lift Master/Chamberlain opener. Install took about an hour, but I wasn't rushing it. Before ordering this I did the the suggested test of jumpering the two contacts connected to the manual open button with a pair of pliers, it worked fine, so I went ahead and put in the order. The first two photos show the unit mounted on top of my opener, with the wire connected to the two contacts that trigger the door to open or close. The third photo shows the magnetic switch that tells the unit the garage door is closed. I mounted the loose one to the top of the garage door, and the wired one to the wall just behind it. I tried the double-stick tape provided with the opener, but it didn't work at all (almost lost the loose one when it fell off) so I screwed them in. I have them mounted at a right angle to each other rather than directly facing, and they work fine that way.The app installed and set up with a few minor glitches, but I kept at it and it's working fine. I particularly like the overtime notification that lets me know if I've forgotten to close the garage - more on this in a bit. I wish the app allowed me to choose the alert tone, so I'd know without looking at my iPhone that I was getting a message from the Meross opener. As it is, it only allows me to use the phone's default tone, so when something comes in I'm not sure if it's a text message or any number of other things my phone alerts me to with the same tone.Alexa integration is OK, but could be more full-featured. Alexa tells me when the door opens, and I can open/close the door with a voice command, but the overtime warning (a critical piece for my increasingly forgetful brain) does not integrate to Alexa. I would love it if Alexa would give me a voice message if my garage has been left open and keep repeating it at regular intervals till I close it - but as it is now I have to depend on my phone to provide that, and again, it's the same alert tone as almost everything else. Also the phone only alerts me once, and I'd like to be able to set it to keep nagging me till I shut the darn door. I hope future app upgrades can address these issues.Overall, I like the unit. It allows me to check the status of my garage door when I'm not home, alerts me when it opens (both via the app and Alexa), and alerts me when I've forgotten to close it (sadly only via the app). I now have the app on my phone and my wife's phone, giving us both the ability to monitor and control the garage door. And the price is hard to beat.
