A fantastic book for anyone interested in a guide to Archangels and ascended masters.
Since I am now well into my senior years my reading interests has in many cases drifted toward topics like Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga, Reiki, Quantum healing, energy healing, astral projection and travel and other esoteric topics. When I saw this 244 page hardcover book (Archangels & Ascended Masters: A guide to working and healing with divinities and deities by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.) on Amazon for a bargain price I sent for it.I just finished reading this fascinating and informative book and I loved it. I had read some previous books by this author many years ago and enjoyed them; however, I had never read this very interesting volume. There are many things I like about this book. The writing style of this author makes this an easy to read and understand book. I love the short biographies of each Archangel and ascended masters, which includes an invocation how to make contact with these divine and loving beings. This excellent book is organized into three parts. Part one covers the specific archangels and ascended masters like Aphrodite, Apollo, 15 Archangels such as Ariel, Chamuel, Gabriel, Haniel, Michael, and Raphael, numerous other divine beings. Part two explains the invocations for specific needs and issues such as abundance, addictions and cravings, courage, finding your life’s purpose, healing yourself, your pet or a child and other issues. The final part has a list of whom to call upon for specific needs. There is also a glossary of terms, an index of divinities, bibliography and about the author section in this book.If you are interested in angels and guides to help you this is a must book to read. Even if you are just curious about these divine beings this is a book you need to check out. I loved it.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi/Qigong/Yoga for seniors and the physically challenged).

A Powerful Book That Really Works!
Archangels & Ascended Masters: A Guide to Working and Healing with Divinities and Deities by Doreen Virtue is an excellent book and resource. The book not only includes Archangels and Ascended Masters; it also discusses gods, goddesses, deities, and other divinities. The book is formatted nicely; the main section describes the Archangels, Ascended Masters, deities, gods, goddesses, and other divinities; going into detail about each one. There is a section on prayer to connect with multiple divinities for special needs, and another section on whom to call for specific needs.A MIRACLE HAPPENED BECAUSE OF USING THIS BOOK. I had discovered a large lump on my dog and took him to the vet. The vet diagnosed him with a tumor that needed to be removed ASAP. The surgery was going to cost over $800 and I didn't have nearly enough. I did an invocation calling two of the deities in book, one who helps with pets, and one who helps with money. I ask that I receive some help with the money to pay for my dog’s surgery. Within a few hours, I received a phone call from a nonprofit organization that helps with situations like mine. They paid $500 towards my dog’s surgery. This book is very powerful and the invocations work! You can use the suggested invocations or design one that is tailored toward your personal needs. I am extremely grateful to Doreen Virtue for writing this wonderful book!

Uplifting but all over the place
This book has a lovely vibration and it will leave you uplifted. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that just like other material I read from Doreen - it is all over the place and and incomplete. Here's what I mean. She has attempted to put in this book someone from just about every imaginable tradition, but if you are involved with any of these traditions, you'll wonder what happened to the other guys and girls. So, you'll find a variety of archangels and ascended masters. Then there's a mishmash of deities from different religions - they seemd to have been just randomnly picked up. For example, out of 8 Famous Taoist Immortals - one is mentioned here. From India you'll find Ganesha, Lakshmi, and of all the other choices - there's Kali (careful there, you may be mightily surprised with the effects of working with Kali). Shiva would've been a better choice. A good suggestion from esoteric circles is that you should work with the energies (and entities) that resonate with you and that you are acquainted with on a deeper level. There is always an exchange of energy in the universe and the price you pay for favors granted may not always be what you expected. You'll find a handful of Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Hindu, Celtic, British, Irish, Welsh - as well as sainths and mythical characters from literature (yap, even Guinevere found her honorable place here). If you've ever worked with an entire pantheon of deities from any tradition, you'd be aware that each has distinctly different vibrations. You'll also get the most out of working with any of them through great devotion and deepening of connection with that particular deity's or archangel's energy. This book is as if it were written for dabblers - for people who'd like to have a little bit of taste of everything, but not commit to anything, or who are yet to discover what resonates with them.As far as pagan deities are involved in this book, I can only imagine that if you are involved in practicing any of those religions or esoteric systems - Kaballah, Alchemy (western or Taoist), Greek or Roman or Egyptian or Celtic or any other group of energies, deities and archetypes in a well-structured format, for the purpose of gaining some deeper connection and insights from that particular tradition, this book will leave you wondering where's the rest.
