Everything except the refrigerator
Was always an avid Fitbit 5 user but the quality of Fitbit has declined. I have gone through two in the past two years. So far the positives on the Vivosmart 5 (cost comparable) are the all-in-one protective band, sleek design (a little bit narrower than the Fitbit 5). The functions are impressive, accurate and limitless but not simple to use. Initial set-up is a breeze, step by step on the band and app but there are no instructions after that so plan on spending some time getting to know your Vivosmart 5, don’t get frustrated it may take 4 or 5 days but once you figure it out your going to love it, I do. Some functions will not appear for a couple of days as data must be gathered to generate results. Biggest draw back is no found logging. They work in conjunction with My Fitness Pal, which wants you to pay premium to use almost any of their features, yuck and the syncing between the two is not great, so there is never a accurate breakdown of calories in/out without bouncing back and forth between the apps. Fitbit 5 wins over Vivosmart 5 for food logging. Very happy with the purchase and excited to put my Vivosmart 5 to the test!

Ease of Use, Comfort
Got a Fenix 5x that I've used daily for years, but was getting tired of such a large item on my wrist. So i got this one. Liked it enough that I got another one for wife. Basic, easy to use for tracking things, comfortable enough to wear while sleeping. Battery length leaves something to be desired; maybe 4-5 days with pulse Ox on for sleep time only. Not a big deal, really. Take the time to calibrate steps, at least. And also invest in a screen protector. Being polycarbonate it'll scratch up sooner or later. Might as well take care of it. Happy with the purchase.

Malfunctioning Garmin
I ordered the “Garmin vívosmart® 5, Fitness Tracker, Long-Lasting Battery, Simple Design, Black Large” September 25, 2024. At first the watch was working just fine, three months ago I noticed that the watch started to malfunction. The sleep tracker, the workout activity, the heart monitor and various other apps stopped working. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled several times and I’m still having problems. I reached to Garmin via website and reset the watch again and it’s still malfunctioning.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS WATCH!

Good, but not good enough for sleep tracking
Overall this one is a good one for those who don’t want to spend any more money than necessary, but want heart rate and not just pedometer functions. Battery life is a week or more unless you have features like full time pulse ox or other power hungry features turned on.The main issue with it is that the sleep tracking is more limited and less reliable than the next model up (vivoactive 5) and there are currently some problems with the “body battery” feature unless they can fix the firmware. In particular, it doesn’t do “nap tracking” but then again the nap tracking even on more expensive models is currently rather inaccurate with things like sitting in a recliner reading while awake being detected as a “nap”.Basically this is the model you want if you just need the essential features of a fitness/health tracker, don’t want to be paying for subscriptions, and don’t need stuff like ConnectIQ apps (most of which aren’t that useful). It does almost all of the “built in” stuff the more expensive watches have “built in” to the firmware. And the iPhone app is good quality and actually works, syncs reliably, etc, even with Apple not being helpful since they want you to buy their bloated extremely short battery life watches.

Great Product!
I have been looking for a low profile fitness tracker similar to my old vivosmart 3 for several months. This is it. The added features of the "5", make it even better. Yes, it does everything the description says and the BR tracker is accurate ( I have watched too many videos talking about which tracker is the best, one shows 2 beats hi or vs another, etc. the reality is that any band, ring, chest band is going to have variances to actual). The fit and feel is most important to me in how often/long you will wear a tracker and this is perfect. Garmin APP is awesome, connection is easy and finally I appreciate the ease and acceptance of Amazon's return process. If it weren't for that I probably would have shopped elsewhere. Seriously, out of the three I bought (returned two), this was the most expensive. Amazon would not have gotten this sale, or as many continued purchases from me if it weren't for that.

Could have been 5 star but for battery life.
My reason for this purchase was less as a fitness tracker (I'm 73) and more for monitoring my heart rate and sleep patterns.I looked at a lot of different fitness trackers and there are some very good ones out there. The deciding factor for me was, if I'm going to wear this thing 24 hours a day, I needed one that was as small and comfortable as possible.I've never been able to wear a bracelet for more than a couple hours at a time and watches for no longer than necessary. The Vivosmart 5 seemed like the right size and is in fact very comfortable and easy to wear for 24 hours a day.Now for the downside, I'm only using the heartbeat monitor, the sleep monitor and the stress monitor, and walking (by default). With just these monitor points turned on, I can only get about 2 and a half days on a charge. That's far from the 7 days in the description. This could easily have been a 5 star rating but for the short battery life.I do still like how easy it is to wear this for 24 hour periods but am disappointed in the short charge cycles. If you can live with recharging often, this is still a good buy.
