this is a really nice product. Real broad bean past is hard to ...
Just used this for the first time today. The only con about the product, as others have noted, is that there is no ingredient list or standard nutritional information. The seller should remedy this issue. Otherwise, this is a really nice product. Real broad bean past is hard to find, and though I can't guarantee that it is 100% broad bean, it seems a lot like a 100% broad bean past that my local Asian store no longer carries. The price seems reasonable to me as well. The packaging is careful, clean and effective. There are actually three layers: the outer packaging, another bag inside that, and two individual pouches of paste in that. Having two separate pouches is a nice touch, and it's not clear from the product photos here that this is the case. The paste itself seems to be of a very high quality, with chunks of broad bean in it and crushed red pepper with some seeds. The taste is salty, pungent, and hot. Despite the photos on here, the look is not oily. On your first go, use less than you think you need. It seems quite concentrated.I'm quite happy with this product and recommend it. Happy Sichuan cooking!

Surprisingly good
I use this to make my family's favorite sichuan pork soup. It gives the soup a wonderful warm, umami and tangy/sour flavor without being too hot. I was worried the first time that it would be super spicy but it's not.I don't need to add salt to any dish it is in, but it's not overly salty either. Depending on what you are making, you don't need much to get a wonderful flavor. I recommend for those who are nervous to add 1/2 what the recipie calls for, taste, add more. I use 2 TBSP in my soup and it's great. Also, don't add soy sauce or salt to your recipe until you taste it with this paste added first.I store mine in my pantry with no problems. I go through both packets in less than a year so I don't know what the long term shelf life is. I wish they had storage and nutritional information on the package.

Authentic Flavor, but a little bit pricy.
I decided to order this chili paste through Amazon to avoid going to asian grocery store during this "Shelter-At-Home" period. The packaging of this chili paste is okay, there are two seperate small bags inside the outside big bag. I made Mapo Tofu last night with this paste and it turned out well. The paste is not overly salty and has a good and authentic Chinese bean paste flavor, definitely different from American style Mapo Tofu sauce. I added a little bit more salt and some sugar in the cooking to make to the flavor that I myself like the best. The quality of this bean paste is fine. However, as an Asian that shops frequently at asian grocery stores, I personally think the price of this bean paste is a little higher than the similar ones that I saw in asian grocery stores. For the convenience of not leaving the house to shop, I think it is still worth it.

Great taste, not sweet
I bought similar bean paste from a small business before it was sold on Amazon. This is quite a bit less expensive and tastes exactly the same. As best I know this is the real deal Pixian style, and doesn't contain the sugar found in the Taiwanese style doubanjiang also sold on Amazon. I cook a lot of stir fries and quite a few that are Sichuan style. Every SEOES product I've purchased has been excellent.

So good
Bomb bomb bomb!! I love mapo tofu and needed a good paste so I can leave the people at the szechuan restaurant alone for once, this is so good. Was using that kum lee stuff you get in asian grocery stores and compared to that is like apples and oranges. This stuff is so tasty and there’s a decent amount of it. I transferred the packets into a separate container, it comes in a zip loc type bag with three packets of the paste inside it.

16oz pack (two 8oz individually-sealed packs) weighed in at 14oz :|
Flavorful, one of the better Sichuan doubanjiangs I've tried out there where the ingredients aren't blended into an unidentifiable paste. I've resorted to buying online since certain Sichuan goods like genuine doubanjiang, green Sichuan peppercorns, or heaven-facing chili peppers can be difficult to even at Chinese grocery stores. However, I ordered the 16oz pack (two 8oz individually-sealed packs) and mine wasn't 1 lb. It was 14oz, 2oz shy of the advertised weight. There's also no ingredient list on the packaging.

My favorite doubanjiang
We cook something that needs doubanjiang at least once every 2 weeks so we go thru a lot of it. The soeos product is my favorite of the many types I've bought so far. It's already chopped up so you can spoon it into a pan straight out of the jar, unlike other types. Also it is bright firetruck red and makes your dish more beautiful. I didn't think that color mattered as a home cook... until my dishes that are normally brown, transformed into instagram worthy brilliant red sauces. It is nice stuff. One note, it came in 2x 8 oz bags (well sealed) instead of a 16 oz plastic jar like my prev Soeos purchase .. but I didn't mind getting it like this & just decanting into a jar myself.

Delicious
This doubanjiang is delicious and authentic. I do recommend a very fine chop, as the Chile skins are naturally a bit tough. Flavor is on point and it’s not too salty, which has been a problem with some brands.
