Top Gun: Maverick [4K UHD]

High energy and plenty of action with the right amount of emotion. Just a very entertaining movie. And somebody wrote that the digital copy expired. It did not. I just redeemed it today. Enjoy.

This is quite possibly the best sequel to a film I've ever seen. Better than Robocop 2, better than Rush Hour 2, better than Smile 2, that dang good.I absolutely HATE how Hollywood has neutered male blockbuster film action stars. We no longer have household names we can attach to a big budget Hollywood popcorn flick. They're all interchangeable now, which makes it easier for them to be replaced.The fact that Tom decided to finally make a sequel to this film and saw it Cruise to the Billionaire Boys Club in the box office says that, outside of DC and Marvel, no modern day male action star move the needle. Even John Wick 4, which is INCREDIBLE, didn't hit the billy mark.When Tom hangs it up, the action movie world will be worse off for it. Do yourselves a favor and buy this film and support the last great action hero.You can also do like me and make it your Christmas movie. That way you don't wear it out. Dec 25, 2025 can't come soon enough.

After watching the original dozens of times and still finding it inspirational (if maybe a bit dated) after almost 40 years, I eagerly awaited the launch of Maverick in the theatres. Saw it 4 times now with friends and family members, and wanted to add the DVD to my library so I could watch it regardless of whether On Demand was available.No need to elaborate at length on the subject matter or exceptional attention paid to detail by Tom Cruise in developing the movie plot and filming the action scenes. Quite sure other reviewers cover that. I have always believed in the need for a strong national defense and the need to honor our active duty military and veterans. It has some modern touches without falling into a woke ditch. Personalities of the flyers and ground crew, and naturally the "love interest", all exhibited a good balance of bravado, humor, anxiety, fear, and sadness at moments (Val Kilmer scenes). Few sequels equal the quality of the original, but this one does, and certainly edges it out in special effects but no surprise there. This movie had me captured in the opening scenes with the 'Mach 10' 6th (7th gen) fighter test reminiscent of a 21st century interpretation of the famed SR-71. Sexy, powerful, cool, loud -- and know what is going to happen - but who cares - sip your soda and gulp down some more pop corn - the ride has begun.The audio and visual quality of the BlueRay disk is up to snuff and renders decent with my 2K TV and my older 720p model too. I like the extras. And the price was reasonable and shipping was fast. What is not to like? Checks all the boxes. So pleased that Tom Cruise made this happen.
