I bought this recorder after my previous Sony digital recorder of the same family finally broke down (I had it since 2004 and used it A LOT--also a great little recorder that gave me excellent service over a LONG period of time). This one has a few more features. Reading the instructions is a must in order to use it well, but it's easy to use and has good sound pickup of meetings. It's better to listen to playback via headphones (also saves battery this way) than to listen via speaker which is not that loud, but you can't expect loud from such a small unit. You can still hear well even without headphones if you hold the unit up to your ear when the sounds are quiet, e.g., when someone far from the microphone is speaking in a meeting. Basically, if you can hear it, the recorder will pick it up. I charged the recorder before first use, then used it to practice a bit to get used to using it, and then used it to record an all-day meeting (10 hours, continuous)--and the battery still registered "full" at the end of that day. Amazing! The recording was clear. I'm very satisfied with this unit and hope it lasts as long and gives me as good service as the previous one.

Smaller than I imagine. And that's all that is small about. The mikes pick great, I never worry about the battery. (Thought I do check it once and awhile) With plenty of options for what might want to do. I make it a habit to always have it on me. A great companion for whatever might come up.

Recorder & accessories work great. Picks up ambient noises almost to a fault. Be careful connecting up to usb since it's not a cable or you're screwed. Get a female to male cable for easier connection.

Easy to use, great sound recordings. I use this for voiceovers in videography. In my amateur opinion it works just as good as those more expensive ones. I bought another!

It tucks away on a table or in a pocket with ease. With the right mic, it does not have to be close to the action. Could use some more noise cancellation. All in all a nice recorder for the price.

This is the second and last time I'll buy one of these. They last about two years with light usage and then stop working dependably. Because I use a recorder for work this is unacceptable. Don't waste your money.

I’m not a writer or journalist, just some dope who likes to get her thoughts out. Perhaps one day her other self can know what was going on at the time.I kid. HaExcellent battery life, love the interface and sound quality is great compared to my old tape version. Great response time and simple menus. So glad I did the research. My ONLY hang up is that the battery is not removable/ replaceable. With that, I just hope that I received a quality product that will last. I also received the Sony mic, not a knockoff.

Bought this for our media department. We’ve used it for audio recording and it worked fine. Sound quality was good.
