Durable
Had to angle grind a lil and take about an 1.5”off the bottom then put a wood bottom in. After all that it works great. Lol. If it works for you I do believe the quality is pretty good.

Very good item but there are some things to be aware of
Okay - I bought this console vault and I have it installed. I think I'm going to be happy with it. But there are a couple of things to know about it.First - some people have noted that the dial / key lock is junk. I guess it's not very good but I wish the instructions had been clearer about how it works. When the lock knob is turned to the OPEN position you cannot turn the little number wheels. If you just close the lid and try to scramble the numbers, they won't turn and it seems that they're just not working well. BUT- the lock knob has to be turned to the locked/closed position before you can turn the dials. "LOCKWISE IS CLOCKWISE" and vice-versa. Close the lid and turn the knob clockwise to the closed position and then you can turn the dials to scramble the numbers or change the combination. If you just close the lid with the knob in the open position and try to move the dials they won't go. It's easy to understand why if you know how it works, and the instructions don't make that clear if they mention it at all. Also I blew out the dial area with a little compressed air and put a tiny squirt of WD40 down the dial area, and after a day it seems that the dials turn much more nicely.Next on the agenda... when I used the key to open the lock I could see the lock itself was loose in the lid of the 'vault'. I checked and I could turn the retaining nut on the inside of the lid with my fingertips, it was that loose. So was the little nut that fastens the catch thing (the part that moves to lock the vault) to the shaft on the lock. You can't really tighten the large retaining nut without removing the small nut and the catch part, and there's a washer or two and some sort of 'cam' that limits the movement of the key and YOU HAVE TO get it back in the right way for the lock and the knob to turn correctly and for the catch to line up with the opening it moves through in the lid. I had to do some trial and error to put it all back together so it worked again. Also, the small nut that holds it in place is a lock-nut with a nylon insert but the distance it threads onto the shaft is too short for the nylon part to reach the threads and do its job, so I put a drop of LocTite on the threads and put the nut on snugly - not overtightened - and now my 'vault' works much better and isn't gonna fall apart because of loose hardware. Possibly putting the nut on upside down with the nylon insert first could make it stay put without using Loc-Tite.This is a very strong and sturdy unit and I find it a lot more useful than the many 'vaults' that put a lid over the entire console opening. Frankly I think most people who want something like this want it for securely storing some kind of weapon or maybe some cash or valuables, smaller things that don't need locking up the entire console to fit in. I can lock up stuff in the vault half and the other half is still there for junk, and the plastic insert tray fits into place. Actually in mine, the plastic insert tray was a very snug fit but it is in close enough I'm satisfied. And unlike the others, it's not just a locking lid over the console opening - it's a complete enclosure on all sides and the bottom as well as the top.Definitely, the lock in combination with the sketchy instructions and the lame assembly of the lock hardware are the weak point with this unit, but I think with everything snugly in place it will be just fine.

Get a replacement lock!
This is a solid vault all heavy gage steel construction with nylon bushings. The one and only let down is the combo lock used to secure the lid. The combo on mine somehow slipped by one digit requiring me to use the pass key. That was no big deal I decided just to replace the lock . Unfortunately the shaft of the lock snapped while trying to remove the 10mm nut on opposite end capturing the spade between a brass collar and the nut.

The lock is junk
Very nicely fabricated console safe. Like most reviews, my lock barely functions out of the box. I spent the afternoon removing, cleaning, lubricating the lock and adjusting the striker for a better operation. With a high quality lock, this would be 5 stars.

Chinky lock very unreliable, making safe useless.
Safe construction and install good. Lock mechanism too cheap and chinky to be of use.Expect to be locked out of safe.No customer support / service.

Lock is absolute trash.…
Safe is strong and well built, but the lock was trash, had to remove it and replace it. Super frustrating

Great product
Install was easy, fits well but the only issue I have is the latch and lock. Took a little fabrication to get it to latch and I'm still having issues with the combo lock.
