The Delicacy of this roaster!!
The media could not be loaded. I've been attempting to roast coffee for a couple of years without success. Initially, I was hesitant to spend $300 on a coffee roaster, but my wife encouraged me to invest in it. Despite my reservations about the price, the roaster came highly recommended. To my surprise, purchasing it turned out to be a great decision. The roaster efficiently processes the coffee beans in just 4 to 5 minutes, a significant improvement over the older model's 40 to 55-minute roast time, which produced inferior quality. Assembling the unit required consulting the manual, which was initially confusing, but the setup is straightforward once completed. There's also a helpful YouTube tutorial available. The roasting duration varies depending on the coffee beans; for instance, Ethiopian coffee Ergashev takes about 4 to 5 and a half minutes to roast completely. Afterward, cooling it for 2 to 3 minutes on the cooler, the cans with the roaster is sufficient, and then you're ready to enjoy your freshly roasted coffee.

Excellent Roaster, Very Happy
If you’re looking for a home roaster with a decent capacity and the ability to get a good quality roast whether you want light, medium or dark, this is it. I can roast up to 6 ounces of beans per batch evenly.I have noticed that the beans start to get a little darker after a few batches so keep an eye out for n it and adjust your time and/or temperature accordingly. The heating unit has programmable digital controls for temperature, fan speed and time with an automatic 3 minute cool down cycle.Speed and temperature are on a scale of 1-9. Time is measured in .1 minute increments. It usually takes between 5 an 6.5 minutes plus the cooldown cycle to roast a batch of coffee.I bought the bundle because I wanted the extension tube. The extension tube is a must have item for larger roasts. I can’t imagine not having it.I won’t say that the bean cooler is necessary, but it is very convenient. The cupping trays are also very useful for weighing the beans, loading the roaster ind filling the coffee bag. I’ll probably buy more of them. While I am curious about the SR800 roaster, I have been very happy with this roaster and I highly recommend it.

Great roaster
I just got into coffee roasting a few months back. I grew my popcorn roaster very quickly. A friend of mine recommended this and I purchased one. I’ve used it several times. I’m very pleased with it. It does a great job and is very easy to operate. I did watch some videos on how to operate it and that helped a lot. Looks to be a good quality and should last a long time.

Makes a nice cup of coffee
I like it. The engine works well. You can adjust the heat and amount of air being used to stir the beans. But the extension “candelabra” leaves me cold. I will probably knock it over and smash it to pieces within 6 months. It makes the machine unwieldy. If they had only made the main reservoir (think of it as being like a glass measuring cup) larger, the glass extension tube, which is costly, by the way, would be unnecessary. In fact, I may forego its use and stick with the main chamber and accept a smaller roast. I believe the 540 now has a larger roasting chamber, which is a very good thing. Then there are the gaskets, which I am not fond of because they require adjustments. The chaff collector does an excellent job of catching the chaff. But it is heavy and sits atop the glass chamber or atop the extension chamber, and in the second case, be very careful not to knock it over. I purchased a package deal that included a plug-in cooling device that blows cool air on the beans as they sit on a mesh. Well, this is nice but not necessary. You might be able to find other uses for it, however. The 540 has a cooling cycle. If you are a klutz, think twice about using this machine. Otherwise, I recommend it as a good roaster for the price.

Great Roaster
Doesn't come with much information so if you're new to coffee roasting go online for info or buy a book. This is a very popular roaster with good reason. Easy to use, consistent roasting, cooling time at end. You just have to learn what coffee you like, then how to roast that type; light, dark, medium, etc.

Best roaster I've ever used
TBH, I bought this intending to get a SR800. Fresh Roast let me return the roaster and trade up with no trouble and very quickly.I have used a lot of roasters all the way back to air poppers 15 years ago. The SR800 give me the best control ever. I'm sure that the SR540 will work just as well, on smaller batches. And Fresh Roast has great support!

New to coffee roasting
We were surprised at how good a job this does on roasting coffee beans. We have done about 5 lbs of different beans, and have had fun experimenting with the roaster and the process. The extension tube is a must! Bean cooler works great, cools a load of beans in a minute or so. If you are just getting into coffee roasting this is a relatively inexpensive way to do it and get good results. We found most of the green coffee bean sellers are familiar with this roaster and give helpsThere is a Facebook group dedicated to the fresh roast roaster, lots of information out there to help support someone new to roasting. We're glad we tried this roaster first.
