Get you class into composting on a manageable level. Easy to store and use. So,far, no problems at all.
Purchased this for my second grade classroom. They are fascinated by the ability to see the materials we chose changing, decomposing right before their eyes. Three separate compartments allow you to keep items separate. The kids love to have me check and chart the temperature of each section. There is a magnified circle for each section and I leave small magnifying glasses out so the students can really get a good look. So far the banana peel is breaking down faster than the butternut squash and the egg shells are taking their time. They chose the samples. Great science tool. We watched some videos about composting before we started and read some articles. The background makes the product more fun because they understand the process.

Used as a Earthworm experiment for 9th grade homeschool student
We used this container as an earthworm experiment for my 9th grade homeschool student who is studying Biology. The container does not include earthworms, but we simply purchased some 'big red crawlers' from WalMart and added organic soil, 10 worms per section, and a different compostable item per section (paper towel, tomatoes, dried leaves). The whole family has enjoyed watching the worms do their work. When the experiment is complete and the weather warms up the worms will go into my garden in the back yard to help improve the soil. Great investment!

SUPER EXCITED!!!!
Super excited about doing this in my 7th grade science class. We have a large outdoor compost bin that we check on, but it will be nice to have one in class that we can compare and actually see the decomposition process throughout all stages, EVERYDAY. I absolutely love the fact that it comes with thermometers (mercury free), so that we can record data about how thermal energy is released from the breaking down of the biomass. I would really love to add worms, but I don't think that this would be the best home for them, too bad. I hope it works well, because it has excellent teaching potential.

Buy 2 and Compare - Worms and No Worms Decomposition
This is cool. The kids have really gotten into watching it. I bought two, composted the same stuff in each, but put worms in each cell of the second one. It really showed how the worms help speed up the composting process. It does NOT say it is intended for worms, but with a little care, mine have been doing just fine. I did put a brown paper bag over the one with the worms as they like the dark and then positioned my compost in front of the little circle spots so now the kids just lift the bag and there are always worms to view helping to compost away.My one suggestion, and why I only gave it 4 stars, is that it comes in 3 pieces, the brown bottom, the clear hard plastic container for composting, and the green top. They are well made, but NOT attached. Good for the top, bad for the bottom, because if you go to lift it, it lifts out of the brown base. This is fine if you never move it, but at my school it does get moved a lot. Maybe I should cement them together.Anyway, great product, great price, be patient and have fun with it!

Awesome for kids who love playing in dirt!!!
Since the pandemic, I’ve tried so hard to maneuver my sons interest towards a more balance mixture of indoor & outdoor activities. Digging for bugs became an even bigger thing for him since we’ve both learned, together how to plant plants. We put worms into this and he’s constantly observing their routines!!! He’s wanting to get something similar but for other bugs so this was a definite and great purchase!!!

Seems really neat, great gift for children
I got this for my 6 year old cousin for Christmas. He seemed interested but time will tell if he can put down his computery game player thing and actually play with something tangible!I love the fact that there are 3 compartments so you can put various things in and have a rotting competition!

Great for watching worms!!
We used the container for my sons science fair project and it worked out really well. We put worms in each container to see what material they would compost the fastest.
