Q: I have a large cow moose hide that i would like to tan with hair on ... where do i start after fleshing? Can i use the NuTan straight after fleshing?

There is a 7-8 step process after fleshing the hide which includes: salting, rehydrating, pickling, shaving, cleaning/degreasing, tanning (applying the NuTan) and drying. Comparatively per ounce, the 32 oz bottle of NuTan is actually a better value because it is the equivalent of four (4), 8 oz bottles - it is also available in 1 gallon size for an even greater economic savings. Additionally, NuTan is Dale's latest product with an advanced formulation using new technologies. AND we are here to help with technical questions and product support. :)

Q: Will this do fish skin

NuTan can be used for fish leather tanning, but it is not recommended for taxidermy. Thank you for your interest in our product.

Q: I need to tan 2 yak hides, how much soutoon do I need and what are the exact steps? Do I need to stretch the hide?

A medium size Yak will require approximately 18-22 oz of NuTan each. So, 2 (quart) 32 oz bottles will be needed to treat 2 Yak hides and you'll have some left over. There are complete directions on the bottle. The hides do not need to be staked to treat. After tanning, we do recommend they be stretched to break the hide and keep it soft.
