Q: Will the cover scratch my paint every time I put it on and take it off? The material seems to be a bit abrasive.

The cover will not scratch automotive finishes. Dirt scratches the paint. Don't put new cover on a dirty car. Put the new cover on a clean car. Keep the car clean if you intend to use the cover. If too much dirt gets into the interior of the cover fabric it is possible that the cover could become abrasive from the dirt it contains. I washed and waxed my vehicle prior to using the new cover. I keep the vehicle clean. I have been using this cover for months and am very pleased. I don't forsee the cover by itself doing damage to the vehicle's finish.

Q: the top description says 5 yr warranty, the later description says 3 yr. Which is it?

This product deteriorates and leaves blue dust all over the car, I would say 3 years is good enough if you don't mind sending it back within six months

Q: Is this cover water proof?

No, it is not water proof. When it rains, the cover gets wet and so does the car. The cover does dry fast and does not trap moisture between the cover and the car.
