OspreyFairview 40L Women's Travel Backpack

Used the pack for a trip to Italy where we were using trains, busses and ferries and needed some versatility when carrying our luggage. The size was perfect and even when filled was not too heavy to carry, although we used the wheels and handle most of the time. Only flaw, which is unavoidable, is that the handles take up a good amount of space in the pack which we worked around by rolling up clothes and packing on each side of them. We are very happy with our purchase and looking forward to our next trip to use them.

My wife LOVED her Osprey Fairview 65! We recently completed a trip to Italy and it worked wonderfully! She had plenty of room for her things (including C-Pap and clothes); the handle-and-wheels were a great feature which she used most times; it is sturdy as heck; and there are lots of handles for the quick pick-up to get it up stairs and into overhead bins on trains and planes. Terrific buy!

I was really excited to find this item but was then very disappointed. The bar for the handle takes up too much space in the bag and it curves like an arch causing the bottom of the interior of the bag to be separated oddly. I'm guessing it was designed so that the bar wouldn't rub on your back when using as a backpack but this is a poor design. The bar should be straight to allow the interior to be flat and the backpack straps should be placed on the other side of the bag like they are in the Eagle Creek Cargor Hauler. The bag was also smaller than expected and seemed flimsy. I returned this and purchased an Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler XT instead. The Eagle Creek bag was bigger, slightly less expensive, and better construction. I recommend that bag over this one.

We got this backpack to go along with another Osprey day pack we have and it is a phenomenal backpack! To be honest, it is exactly as pictured. As you would expect from Osprey, the stitching and quality of the material is some of the best you can get! It has several different pockets and then the one large main pocket. For myself, it would be large enough to fit clothing for 2-3 days which is nice. The backpack is large but comfortable due to the mesh stitching on the back. If the bag gets too heavy then you can use the wheels/handle which is a great addition that doesn’t add much bulk at all. The last great thing is that is that Osprey offers a lifetime guarantee so if you damage the backpack they will replace it for free. Overall a really phenomenal pack that will last a lifetime and be used over and over!

I used this pack on a recent cross-country vacation. It was the perfect size for traveling for about a week, with room to pack home souvenirs. There are plenty of zip-up compartments that allow you to stay organized, and a nice compression divider in the middle for packing clothing efficiently.It would be nice if the pack was just a hair smaller to fit airplane carry-on size requirements. Unfortunately it is an inch or two over on each dimension. Docked one star for this.This pack works well if you plan on checking your luggage. The roller wheels and handle are convenient for making your way through airports and wherever else you need to go. The push-button on the handle is easy to find when you need it, and it stows quickly and easily when you're ready. I didn't find a need to use the backpack harness, but appreciate that it's there if you need to carry your pack, and it stows nicely in the zippered compartment so there's nothing to snag when your luggage is on the airport conveyors. The only potential snaggy straps are the compression straps on the front of the pack - I tied mine back on themselves to reduce the potential for them to get caught on anything.Overall I really enjoyed using this pack for my trip, and know it will fit my needs for future travels. If my husband and I are traveling together, I feel there will be sufficient space for us to both fit our stuff in so that we only need to check the one bag. I felt much better checking this bag, versus the regular backpacking backpacks I've checked in the past!
