Bought this sharpening steel to replace an old, generic 1980s model that had lost its oomph (if it ever had any). Ordered it based on its oval profile (reminds me of a ceramic sharpener/hone that my grandfather had) and its lack of glued-on diamond dust. I used it right away when it arrived, and could tell that it was far superior to my old steel. It offers just the right amount of resistance for my taste, and creates a fine edge.

Best steel ever! I bought the 12” but really the 10” would have been perfectly fine.

i’m a assistant meat cutter, and I’ve had 3 honning steels for the past few years and the one that i got with the knife set i have was damaging my knives, so i got this I was skeptical but I used it immediately once i got it. Passed my 8inch knife and boom automatically got a good edge, kept using this for a few weeks didn’t need to sharpen it on the stone. It keeps your knife sharp and straight def recommend. Ps my meat manager loved it so much he asked me to order one for him too

Works great !... puts a much better edge on knives etc than what I had before ....this doesn't actually sharpen like a grinder-- But if you use on a regular basis you'll have the best edge possible. It straightens and trues it without removing material .
