Vitacost Gas Enzyme Alpha-galactosidase - 300 GalU per Serving - 120 Chewable Tablets

It works as well or better than Beano.

After trying out a well known enzyme product for suppressing abdominal gas discomfort and finding that it works pretty well, I looked for a competitor that provides the same ingredients. Vitacost popped up on my Google and Amazon searches, so I ordered a bottle (from Amazon) with twice the number of tablets at a much lower price than the famous brand. The tablets are pleasant tasting to chew and work very well and fairly quickly to stop the generation of gas at the source. After all, it is the same amount of the same ingredient per tablet as the name brand. I am happy. Go for it!

Doesn't help at all.

This is much less expensive than the name brand. It is very easy to use and tastes good when chewed. I am not sure how effective it is, and I cannot seem to get a straight answer about whether I should use it or not from at least three different physicians. That is why I did not rate it 5 stars. Incidentally the supplier was great with very fast standard shipping and low cost.

It works. No nasty flavor. Easy to swallow.

One great thing about informing yourself about medicine is that once you know the active ingredient, nothing else matters. Sure there variables such as bioavailability, but most of the time, "how much active ingredient is there?" is the question you should ask.These tablets have 300 GalU each. Bean-O has 150. (GalU is a measure of the active ingredient, alpha-galactosidase)Vitacost tablets are, as of this writing, about 8 cents/pc. Bean-O are 10 cents/pc.Therefore:• One Vitacost tablet is worth two Bean-O tablets• You get one-and-a-quarter more pills for your money• You get two-and-a-half times more actual medicine than Bean-O (remember to take half as many pills!).

It’s my fault for not comparing the labels, but sometimes when you’re suffering, especially late at night you just search for something new that might help you and impulse buy. But once I received this and started using it at the suggested dose, I got no relief. I decided to just buy another bottle of Beano and decide to compare the label to see if maybe taking them together would help. That’s when I realised that this product has the exact same ingredient as Beano, but at a much lower dose. The suggested two tablets of this gives you 300 units of the enzyme, whereas the same dosage of Beano gives 800. So, if you take five of these you can get close to the dose that Beano has and it will work, but at that point you’re better off just buying Beano.

This takes VERY bitter, and since it's a chewable, that's noticeable. But the most important concern is whether it helps with gas, and I really think this does. I get terrible cramping and gas when I eat too many raw carrots or other veggies, which is a shame since those foods are healthy! I try to remember to chew two of these before I eat a bunch of fresh veggies, and my gas is seriously reduced.I'm not sure why I ordered this off amazon instead of vitacost, but it did arrive in good shape, fully sealed. Good idea if you can use prime free shipping!
