Ditch the Sunglasses and Step into the Space Age
The media could not be loaded. This review is for the latest (as of 6/20) bike helmet offered by the Basecamp/Shinmax group company. I wear prescription glasses and sunglasses, and when biking it was somewhat of a pain carrying both pairs (if I remembered) to switch from one to the other when going from bright sun to inside a dark restaurant/tunnel/building etc. When a friend showed up one day with a Basecamp helmet that had a magnetic visor that can be placed up or down, I immediately saw the solution to my problem and ordered one for myself. It was great to leave behind the sunglasses behind and enjoy biking on a higher level. That helmet eventually saved my life when I flipped over my handlebars and hit the pavement head/shoulder first at over 15 mph (25 kmh). While my helmet suffered a crack, my skull remained intact and multiple MRIs found no brain damage (whew). I immediately ordered another helmet from Basecamp, which now included a nice, removeable LED safety light in the rear of the helmet. After less than a year’s use, I noticed that the safety light had fallen out somewhere and contacted the company for a replacement. This company has fantastic customer service, and they immediately sent me two replacement lights with two spare batteries at no cost. They recently came out with their latest helmet offering, which meets or exceeds all safety standards and includes a built-in, long lasting, rechargeable safety light that offers 9 safety-light modes, USB charging cord, detachable inner-helmet and under chin, sweat guards for easy cleaning, the same great magnetic visor, and as with their previous helmets, it comes with a nice cloth bag/backpack for storage and carrying. After ordering and receiving this helmet, I promptly charged the light and went out on several bike rides over a two week period in scorching heat and humidity. The visor on this model, as with past models, fits over my glasses without touching or scratching them. The safety light was still going after 8+ hours use on the initial charge, but was starting to dim some in the sunlight. Recharging was fast and easy, and I no longer have to worry about changing batteries or the light coming off. Ventilation is good and I love the ratchet adjusting wheel for loosing and tightening the helmet. This latest version has a space age design and I’ve been told I look like a Star Wars character when I’m wearing it with the visor down. Several of my friends have also purchased these helmets and all are happy with them. Great product from a great company.

Game Changer!
The first thing I noticed may seem odd but it is very negligible and that's the magnetic fitment of the visor. It's not tight but it didn't matter nearly as much as I thought it would. Now the fitment of the helmet is pretty amazing. Maybe I have the right head-shape for the helmet but it's snug enough, easy to adjust and since I wear glasses, that was an initial concern. The visor is the game changer for me, does well at blocking out light from every angle that matters. It does really well at blocking the wind from drying my eyes out and it does great at preventing the rain from hitting my glasses at every angle (experiences with rain may vary) that I've had to deal with.Overall, great helmet for the price.

Looks good
The adjuster on the back is cool, and no hassle easy to use, just turn ratcheted knob while it on your head and quickly adjusts to fit.The light on the back looks really nice and well integrated; lots of pattern options (i think 9?) that it cycles through from full blast to faded, blinking speeds, rotation, etc. [long press to turn off]Was listed at the time as not as large as most the others available with fast shipping. But somehow page specs changed the size after I ordered and got slightly larger helmet than I wanted. (was other reviews on page when I ordered too and now is a new product listing w/ no other reviews yet) My head measures like 21.5" and fits well enough but would preferred if the max size this is fitted for was closer to my size. Don't believe the previous was "medium" size but a smaller large by half an inch.Magnetic Goggles are great. I had to have those because.. my futures so bright I gotta wear shades. (yes, song rip)but I have to sit the helmet forward on my head for them to correctly cover my eye's. When helmet is sitting naturally flat on my head they are too high. Either I have an unusually shaped head, or the design of these helmets needs to be corrected. I'm guessing it isn't my head but their design that is wrong. They probably took the same old general molds from without goggles, and just added goggles. Still, sitting helmet forward isn't a problem it stays in place and doesn't really compromise head protection. I wear glasses, and no issues with that. Shades sit smoothly against helmet contour when flipped around for non use.Tempted remove another star because hard to find replacement visors, like a yellow lens. Model of helmet isn't listed at top but is if read through page see is BC011 however BC-001 is what is listed on sticker inside helmet. Vendors page isn't helpful, I bought a yellow lens from this vendor, but it didn't work with helmet, size appeared correct, but magnet polls are reversed/wrong. Magnets are riveted onto visor going attempt prying them off and flipping. Searched amazon for correct visor, and at this time I'm only able to find a clear lens, want yellow and doesn't seem available for this model. Should be some sort of standardization or designation of direction of magnets.padding on chin strap is nice addition, and restrains extra strap so don't need worry trimming. But I will need to do extra work adjusting straps whole way around helmet and ears, because tightening enough for my smaller head leaves the chin strap to the side at moment for me.internal padding probably little better than some cheaper helms, and I think that possibly important for safety in allowing some rotational give on impacts, if I understood some what I read about new helm safety science.A little big but pretty good bike helmet. light weight, comfortable, easy to throw onhappier when I can get a yellow visor for dusk and night riding

Very pleased
I've been using it for five days and also purchased the clear visor for it. Be careful. I accidentally ordered the wrong visor the first time. I didn't realize this company had another helmet with a different visor so I just ordered the first one I saw on their page. The helmet itself I am very pleased with. Feels a lot less clunky than the couple I tried on at Wal-Mart, and I can't imagine not having a visor now. At first I thought it was too small. Be sure to pull the rear adjustor down away from the helmet. Loosen it up. Plant your head into the front of the helmet and then tighten as needed. Works great with a winter cap or balaclava as well. It is nice and light. Once I wondered if I remembered to put it on . Lol
