Very happy
Solid downriggers for the money. Trolled for 8 hours with a pair of these using 12 lb cannon balls trolling for bluefin out of Monterey California last Saturday. At 125 feet down they held up fine under the weight of the 12lb balls. The clutch is easy operate, not touchy and works great. Glad I went with the gimble mounts as well. The gimble mounts allow us to clear the gunnel rail so we could fight our big fish without obstruction. Very happy this these.

Very pleased!
Very very pleased! Heavy duty and doesn't break the bank to buy! I've had a cheap Atwood downrigger that cost like $70 and I'm about to throw it away and order a second cannon! Unbelievably easy to use! I put the drag on really loose on my rod/reel and snap it to a 10 pound cannon weight and then you simply turn the handle a little bit and it allows clutch to slip and the ball to drop while the counter tells you how much feet you let out! My counter "wasn't working" and I was frustrated for a second.....the fix however was simply pushing the counter back further in it's slot so it's gears make contact with the gears of the wire wheel then it worked perfectly!! I will say I am glad I went with a 10 pound weight. I didn't know at the time but in the reading material that comes with the downrigger that a 10 pound weight doesn't have "blow back" at about 2 mph which is as fast as I tend to troll. That means when you let out 15 ft of line you are fishing right at or really really close to 15 ft instead of something like a 8 pound ball may only truly be fishing only 12 ft or something with further inaccuracy deeper you fish. One thing that was frustrating is that the down rigger model apparently doesn't come with the bolt and nut that gives you the option of hanging the weight close to the unit while driving, however one very quick phone call to cannon customer service and they informed me it doesn't come standard with the unit and they would be happy to send it to me free of charge. It arrived very shortly and was easy to bolt it. The reason they say it doesn't come with it is because they discourage driving down the road with the weight hanging in the unit and you would be safer driving with weight unclipped and sitting in the boat since this model isn't as heavy duty as the more expensive models. Bottom line, I love this thing and it's simple to use and assemble. I can mount up and descend the weight and lure to 20 ft in seconds! And retrieve the heavy weight very quickly and with no straining.Update: my second downrigger did not engage the line counter and turns out it came with the wrong gear size from the manufacture! I called the customer service and they sent me a new gear. The faulty unit came with a 1 inch gear and the gear it is suppose to be 1 1/8 inch. You can use a flathead screwdriver and pop the gear off and slide the right one on in seconds if this happens to anyone FYI. Poor quality control but at least cannon made it right by sending me the parts for free.

Good Rigger for the price.
The riggers are built to be physically lite. They are also well thought out, and mount easily. The line counter works, although, it is kind of chintzy. I wish the mast were aluninum rather than steel, but the cable guide is nice. It is made of composite.

Great for the money
Have used this a couple of times primarily for wahoo that run deeper than most saltwater fish. The unit was easy to mount to the rail of the boat and is very sturdy. I'm using a 6lb weight and will probably upgrade to a 10lb as the 'blowback' is very noticeable when trolling at 7 to 12 knots. Carbon/plastic should stand up to the sun and salt well. Easy to operate with one hand and very clear depth counter to show how much cable is out. Don't think you will be disappointed with this purchase.

Parts missing.
Opened my brand new box from Cannon, started putting it together and found that not one , but 2 major parts did not come on the unit or in the parts bag. One was the downrigger ball hanger located right under where the boom comes out and the other is the special knob to attach and adjust the rod holder. How did this unit pass inspection before getting boxed? These kind if problems are not cool and I expect Cannon to overnight me parts asap!!

I could finally catch king salmon
Easy installation and operation. I tried dipsey divers and casting spoons. It was too much guessing as to where the bait was. This down rigger enabled me to know exactly where my bait was. I started catching fish.

Love it!
Got the rigger yesterday, assembled and mounted it in little over an hour, and hit Lake Ontario for some kings with it this morning. Overall I'm really happy with it. The hand clutch took a couple mins to get the hang of, but once you do you'll be happy with how it works. The line counter is very accurate. Was able to mark the ball on my sonar and the depth matched perfectly with what the counter said. Was using a 12lb ball today and it handled it just fine, not sure if I'd push my luck with much bigger though. I'll definitely be ordering another one.
