Q: how long did it take???

If you keep it watered, we found you could see the first green shoots within about five days, 8/9 days you have good growth. then I would say it takes more time to fully blend it, but it is really quick. The dogs stayed with us until early August, and our lawn is now fully recovered. We did a few patches at a time, to make it easier for us to keep watered. I am experimenting with the last few patches to see if I need to rake out the dead stuff. I have just thrown the Miracle Gro down and am waiting to see how that goes, as it would make it a lot easier.

Q: Will the birds eat the seed? Do I need to cover it or use bird scarers?

I used this as I quite few patches where the dogs tended to walk up and down and also where I previously had large potted planters. It worked a treat, and really quickly - you just got to water it regularly. I have lots of wild birds where I live, including blackbirds and pigeons and never did I have a problem. The blackbirds just fed on the worms and bugs a lot of the time - never the seed! IT worked for me 100%. I think application and watering made a difference.

Q: Best way to apply to soil? Do I need to buy top soil or just add to the area were soil aleady is?

I didn't add any top soil. I just raked the bare patch and sprinkled the product and watered it. The grass has grown well.
