Brilliant shovel, shame about the packaging.
This little shovel is magic. Just a perfect size for shifting snow and it's small enough to tuck away in the car boot. It's well balanced and comfortable to use.I can imagine that it'll get a lot of use in the garden come the spring as it's just right for getting in about the borders without being too big and clumsy. It's very well made and quality materials used throughout. It certainly feels as though it could last a very long time indeed. The price is unbelievable and with free delivery it's a "no brainer". Get one, or two......I bought three !Now for the downside....The packaging. The shovel measures roughly 690 x 150 x 40mm (Not the 500mm stated on the product page). The box it was delivered in measures 750 x 560 x 160mm......Enough to take fourteen of these shovels! If you order more than one each comes in its own box.You end up with a lot (and I mean a LOT !)of brown paper packaging to fill up the space in the box. Now, if the paper was softer I'm sure it could be recycled "in house" if you get my meaning, it's already perforated. As it is my paper recycling bag is going to be full for the next month or so.So. A GREAT product at an unbelievable price but rather spoiled by the grossly excessive packaging.

Good Micro Shovel
Was perfect for what I needed it for. Was used many times and still very sturdy and still going strong for various other projects.

Useless
Bought for young children to make sandcastles, both broke in ten minutes even with just a four year old using it.

Dig It
When we had a long spell of snow I decided to buy this spade to keep in the boot of my car in case I had to dig myself out.The spade is small and what I liked best was that it folded down so could fit into a small space and not take up any room.As it turned out I used it quite a lot not only to dig myself out in the snow but also to clear my path.It has been a great buy and although small is very sturdy and much more lightweight than a full size one which the weight itself can make the job cumbersome.I would recommend this as a handy little tool to carry in your car for emergencies

Good digger
A very neat little shovel. I bought to plant a lot of shrubs in the garden - a trowel was too small and was taking ages and a full size spade was just too unwieldy. This actually speeded up the whole process by about 50% which really surprised me.I'd note that it's not a spade, its not as strong as a purpose made spade. So digging in hard-packed / virgin ground is probably going to end up bending it unless you are careful but it copes just fine with looser ground or beds that have been previously dug. That being said, it's as sturdy as my full size shovel that has been used for years for shovelling sand, ballast and mixed concrete so it should be fine for those smaller jobs. It's also about perfect size for putting in the car boot in the winter - just in case.

Great piece of gardening equipment for the money
I love this to bits. It's rapidly become one of my favourite pieces of gardening equipment. Bigger than a trowel, small than a spade or shovel, it's perfect for so many jobs around the garden ... shovelling compost out of bags, mixing soil and fertilizer in a wheelbarrow, digging holes for planting small bushes and shrubs, working in confined spaces like rockeries and around ponds ... and the design and length of the handle makes it much easier to use than standard hand tools, especially if you have a touch of arthritis. Saves your back to ... A winner all round, and nice quality into the bargain. A real snip at the price.

Not As Described
I have been buying Silverline Micro/enclosed spaces shovels for about 6 years. They are sturdy, cost effective but often go "missing" as people tend to nick them. The delivery today were NOT Silverline, NOT 700mm, NOT blue handled, were made of cheap bendable steel, and "power coated" with the thinnest pain imaginable, as the steel is showing through. see pictures.

Great digger for metal detecting
I bought this for use when metal detecting, after my last one snapped (which was 3 times the price!) under the strain of some roots.I've used this 50+ times and it's been great. Light, easy to carry and handle, and pretty tough in all kinds of soil conditions. The top of the blade is folded slightly to give a nice width to give a good kicking, and it cuts through most soil with ease, and roots.Absolutely no complaints, and I would recommend it to any other amateur detectorists. One thing - it was delivered in a box so big, it looked like I'd ordered a 90 inch flat screen TV! Maybe they'd just run out of smaller boxes ..
