I upgraded to the Gear Fit PRO 2 from a Sony wristband which wasn't particularly good and had no screen
I was initially excited to get my hands on this to accompany my recent purchase of the Samsung S8 phone. I upgraded to the Gear Fit PRO 2 from a Sony wristband which wasn't particularly good and had no screen. So my expectations were reasonable for a significant jump up.Overall the build quality is good and the wrist band is fine, even if it is a little small on my average male sized wrist, I probably should have gone for the large version, but I can get a new strap without issue anyway. The features are good and while the detection system isn't particularly good (it often detects me cycling while in the car or doing a workout when I'm showering) and it often records things wrongly (stairs are a good example, it seems not to always count going up or down stairs) you can do most of the activity stuff manually. I was underwhelmed as a home fitness fiend to find it doesnt record much more than simply the amount of time you spent doing something (spin cycle or rowing for example).Heart rate is recorded well though seems to be very badly wrong most of the time. I did a side by side with another (fitbit) band from a friend and it was up to 20 bps out on most occasions (Samsung shows much higher for some reason - 85 on Samsung, 65 on Fitbit). Likewise, activity tracking with the heart monitor is a bit all over the place, at one point going to 205 while running (which technically means I should be dead right?).Screen is good and works well most of the time, a flick of the wrist allows the screen to show for a few seconds allowing you to check the time and heart rate etc. There are plenty of watch faces too, though some you have to pay for.Apps work sporadically and don't always sync first time round and need a bit of a prod, but eventually they get there.Overally, for the priceand the limited accuracy of heartrate it's not something I'd recommend to anyone, despite the fact it looks nice and Samsung health is actually a nice piece of software. Frankly, for half the price, the fitbit is probably much better overall, unless Samsung can at some point update this with a patch which at least fixes the sporadic heart rate tracked (the main reason I bought this for fitness and heart monitoring).

Doesn't sync swimming data with Speedo On app
UPDATE: I returned my gear fit2 pro and received the replacement 5 days ago. It has exactly the same problems. Speedo say this is not a common fault. I find it highly unlikely that this is true as I have now had two gear fit2 pros, from different suppliers, one large and one small- both with the same issue syncing the Speedo On data. If you are looking for something to analyse your swims look elsewhere! The wearable doesn't sync the speedo app with my phone. This is the second one I have tried. Gear fit2 pro to s7. I have spoken to Samsung and Speedo. Neither can solve the problem. I bought it as a swim watch. I would absolutelt not recommend this if you want to anylyse swims.

One of the best activity trackers on the market
I am really impressed with this small activity tracker’s capability. I will do my best to describe my opinion and experience with the Gear fit 2 pro. If you don’t want to read my long review, you can skip to the pros and cons. It’s hard to understand all of the other bad reviews. I understand that many of them may have had faults but I have not experienced any of these problems. I purchased this from the USA as it was much cheaper there. From Amazon.com it was only 150$. The shipping costs were quite a lot but still cheaper than buying in the U.KI can firmly say that so far I have been satisfied with my purchase. There is no reason for me to demote a star from the rating because I have had no major problems. I have had other smart watches in the past but this has to top the list. It isn’t quite as fancy as the Samsung Gear Sport, gear S3 or Apple Watch but for the price, that is totally forgivable. I bought the TomTom Spark 3 before at the same price as this and the Gear fit 2 pro completely dominates. It has many top of the range features such as Offline Spotify (you can’t get elsewhere), gps, heart rate, water-proofing and super Amoled display. It is missing a couple of cool features such as NFC payments and a speaker built-in but again, for the price that can’t be expected.Having Offline music and especially Spotify, is a game-changer. It has 4gb of storage built-in which should be more than enough for music on your watch. Compared to the Gear Sport, the Gear fit 2 pro doesn’t have many apps for it but honestly most of the apps from Times are useless. This watch should have all you need without downloading any extra apps, though you can add watch faces and screensavers which is cool.At first I was a bit skeptical of Speedo On. I wondered why Samsung needed Speedo to track swimming which Samsung could already do. I slowly realised that the real gem was Speedo’s technology. It is really advanced and tracks you swimming in better ways than the stock Samsung app. It can detect stroke types and give detailed feedback. It makes much more sense to me now. Instead of Samsung pouring precious resources into this department they use Speedo’s famous brand to create a really great tool. I use Speedo’s swim programs all the time which are great. They are written by the world’s best swimmers and make my swims much more beneficial. I was taking lane coaching lessons but I stopped when I realised that these programs were doing more good than the coach. It is really great being able to connect the watch to the programs. It means that you can see the program on your watch which is so much better. For these reasons I now love Speedo On.I’ll be honest. The heart rate monitor isn’t as accurate as others out there or compared to a chest strap but it will more than do. It will be fine for most for the likes of running and cycling but not weight-training or anything with little body movement. It is amazing to be able to use the heart-rate monitor while swimming 🏊 Even though Apple accomplished that with their Apple Watch 2, not many other companies have latched onto that idea. For any swimmers, this is so useful. This, for me, sets this Watch away from a lot of other competition.Pros:Small trackerLooks coolGreat battery life (4-5 days)WaterproofCollaboration with Speedo On (I use it all the time)TouchscreenNice interfaceChangeable watch facesOffline SpotifyWiFi built-inSupports all notificationsReply to notifications from WatchEasy-to-readCons:Many people describe their problems (I haven’t had any)No speakerNo NFCSpotify requires membershipPoor app selection with TizenAs you can see, I have included many more advantages than disadvantages and that is for good reasons. I find this activity tracker better than most on the market. It isn’t quite the best but for all you get, it is so hard to beat it. If I haven’t convinced you and you’re looking for alternatives to this I could recommend the Samsung Gear Sport as that is very similar to this but just eliminates many of the disadvantages. I could also recommend the Huawei Watch 2 but I wouldn’t advise it over this. I have loved this watch for as long as I’ve had it and I hope you find it as good for you.

Sent mine back. Found the heart rate monitor to be completely wrong most of the time. Sometimes a restart would fix but only temporarily. Compared it to a proper heart rate monitor and it was way out. Even the iPhone app that uses the flash light was much more accurate. Also found the strap to be really annoying. constantly had to re-tack it into the o ring. No good apps. Very little detail such as sleep and exercise. Just poorly executed really which is a shame. Was really looking forward to it.
