Our outdoor Christmas decorations this year are giving the Blackpool illuminations a run for their money! And with many lights come many cables, too many of which were serious trip hazards for anyone walking down the drive to our front door. So I wanted a cable mat that would tidy the mass of wires and keep them hugging the bricks of the driveway. I needed a total of about 8m of mat, and given it would be used for about a month, I didn’t want to spend a fortune. The way my cables run means we don’t drive over them, so I was happy to get a light duty product.The cover works perfectly for me. Heavy enough to lay flat to the drive, easy to cut to size (with a very sharp knife), and easy to load with the cable (although I’d recommend doing this as a two-person job for any run over a couple of meters to prevent the frustration of getting to the far end of the cover only to discover the cable has popped out at the beginning).Before you buy, bear in mind that this is a 6cm wide, black rubber mat that rises more than 1cm off the ground in the middle. If you run it across the middle of your white-carpeted lounge, it is going to be far from discreet. And if you run it in front of a door that hugs the floor, it’s going to get snagged. But for the right job this is a well-made product at a good price, and I’m really pleased with my purchase.

I bought one of these as I've recently upgraded to fibre, and the engineer had to put the router near the front door, so I've got an ethernet cable going under the door to the living room to connect multiple devices over the LAN.I cut it to size with a Stanley knife, the first thing I noticed was the quality of the material. Just feeling it you can tell it's durable and well designed. I slipped the long cable into the slit (unintended innuendo), it's tidied up the cable, no longer a likely health hazard.Walking over it, you barely feel it, only had foot and cat paws traffic over it so it's durable thus far. The cat is a fat bastard so if it didn't break when he stood on it, it's well worth the money in my eyes.The only issue I have with it is that it was just a little too big to fit under the door without being dragged along, I could cut the draft excluder but that's not what I want to do.

Bought this to cover a large outdoor extension lead between garage and outbuilding. I only recently put the extension lead in to provide semi-permanent electric to my workshop. The cable is cleated to walls for most of it's journey but there is about a metre of cable which runs on the ground where it goes from the garage wall, to the garden wall. As I drive the lawnmower over this sometimes I was very concerned that it needed covering, not to mention it just being a trip hazard.It arrived rolled up lengthways and when unrolled it stayed flat quite nicely which was good. It was tough but easy enough to cut to length with a stanley knife, and then I was easily able to push the cable into the recess underneath (which is easily big enough to take 3-4 standard appliance flexes).I've been walking, driving etc over the cable protector for weeks now and its working brilliantly. Really please and a decent price too! Will definitely buy some more if/ when I need it.
