Shakespeare Beta Boat Rod - 20-30lb - Black, 7 Ft

I bought this rod for my first ever in my life boat fishing trip (as a matter of fact a friend of mine bought one too as we went together fishing and wanted some reasonably priced boat rods fairly quickly delivered). I can only recommend this product as it is very affordable AND very good quality - this "cheap" rod caught me a one-meter smoothhound and five rays on that day. It is quite light and just the right size for a boat rod, and even if something happens to it, it will not be a financially sensitive loss. Would buy this rod again.

A nicely finished basic carbon composite rod, by Shakespeare Great value at £20 . This will get dual use- inshore trolling and bottom fishing. On that basis I’m replacing the top ring with a roller ring. It’s not going to last a life time as the rings are obviously not top quality. But a broken or corroded ring can be easily replaced. Mated with a multiplier I’m confident it will do the job, and survive being stored in its rod holder on the stern rail.👍

went sea fishing with a friend the other day and loved it, especially after catching some nice size Bass 😁so im now hooked ( for the want of a word) from course fishing to sea fishing so this is my first sea fishing rod. Hard to choose on line but on receiving this (excellent delivery service) the quality is really good and looking forward now to testing it out on my next venture

When I saw the price of this rod I was fairly skeptical of it being any good, thought I'd order anyway just to give it a test as most Shakespeare rods are decent, and after taking it out all day on the boat I couldn't find a fault at all, great little rod, good sensitivity on the tip, anybody getting into fishing I highly recommend this rod.Parcel could of been packaged a little better (maybe with some bubble wrap) better that's the only bad point.

Good for what it is cheap and cheerful fits in the boot easy light and easy to whip about whipped in a couple mackerel with it so far

The plastic in the eyes have fallen out after just one use

Very good rod for the price. The rings are strong, the action is good, the reel lock is secure and the handle didn't slip in my hand in the rain or salt water spray. Only had fish in the 10-20lb on it so far so I know it is a strong rod. I have no doubt it will bring in the larger fish Only time will tell when I finally get the larger fish this year.
