Magic the Gathering MTG Elspeth vs Kiora Duel Decks THD d6 Card Game

I used to play Magic The Gathering long ago and have recently got back in to this terrific card game. I purchased the Magic Origins - Deck Builder's Toolkit along with this Duel Deck package as a re-introduction to the game. I'm glad to say I can speak highly for both, however since this review is for Elspeth vs Kiora I will focus on that.This Duel deck is REALLY GOOD value for money. At the time of writing this review I have tallied up the cost of buying solely the Elspeth deck from Magicmadhouse.co.uk and the price comes to £16.91, which is suspiciously close to the asking price for this Duel deck package. Now I haven't tallied up the cost of Kiora's deck, however it will undoubtedly cost less as the Planeswalker Elspeth (foil version) costs significantly more than Kiora (foil); but it's still safe to say you are effectively getting nearly double your money's worth with this Duel deck.If the price is so good then why no 5 star review?Well... the decks aren't exactly the most balanced (which is really one of the core points for these Duel deck bundles). After playing 5-6 games with my girlfriend whom I've introduced to MTG over the weekend, Elspeth's white deck won hands down every time. It just churns out creatures way too fast for Kiora's deck to come into it's element. Also since Elspeth's is a mono-coloured deck it naturally has an easier time with bringing out the right land at the right time. However, your mileage may vary.Regardless of the slight balancing issues, this still remains a recommended purchase.

Really awesome duel deck - and a lot of these cards (including Elspeth!) are standard legal at the moment, so it's great for new players and a cool way to get some interesting cards for standard.The decks are (fairly) evenly matched. And for new players - looking at how these decks work and playing with them will show you how the cards work together - so it's a useful lesson in deckbuilding too.

A great set of decks that are well balanced and perfect for any new starters to the hobby. The white deck is easier to play but the Blue/Green deck takes some finesse but when played well will produce a really interesting and fun game for both sides.

Two evenly balanced decks, but Elspeth seems to win more often.

My good lady and I have just spent an evening playing with this deck and it's probably the most MTG fun I've had yet. Really well thought out decks.

2 great themed decks that work well and are fun to play, plus the bonus of the 2 planeswalkers is great

Was meant to be delivered inbetween the 12th and 16th of January however came on the 10th which was a happy surprise, all the cards were in great condition and great for people starting the game, at a good price too.
