The best gaiwan
Doesn't get too hot, easy to hold, holds a reasonable amount of strong tea for one person, easy to clean. The ideal gadget for chinese and taiwanese teas like pu erh and roasted oolongs. Suitable for fancy gongfu brewing but also works great for drinking straight from it and refilling with hot water until the leaves are tasteless.Only one minor flaw (tiny bump) in the porcelain lining, no big deal.

Great pick for the solo tea session!
This is a nice small gaiwan. It’s just the right size for a personal tea session. If you have a medium sized hand then it should be a good fit. I personally couldn’t have picked a better gaiwan. This one fits my hand like a glove. Also it has a nice texture on the outside (I ordered the terra-cotta colored one) that makes for a good grip so that it doesn’t slip out of your hand while pouring. Also, this one has a perfectly fitted lid. One thing to keep in mind is the milliliters of this one. If you’re not familiar with the metric system then this one is about a standard unit of 1 cup. Other than that it seems like it’s well made. I have not complaints. I think it was a good deal for the price. Five stars to the makers of this cute little guy👍🏼👍🏼

Looks great especially for the price
Have not had the opportunity to use it much but this gaiwan seems much nicer than I expected. There are a few small blemishes in the glaze and underlying piece but nothing I would complain about at this price point. Otherwise it seems quite light but sturdy and I look forward to using it.

My New Go-To Gaiwan!
I've loved this gaiwan since the first brew I made with it. Even though it is rated as 150ml capacity, it seems to make smaller batches even when filled to the rim. This is not a problem since it has so many other advantages! Its design is very simple and elegant. The white porcelain interior of the cup, lid and saucer make for better visibility when judging brew strengths. Its mate outer finish is not only visually appealing, but also makes the edges easier to hold and control. The slightly taller profile of the cup is excellent for teas that expand, such as ball-rolled Oolong as the leaves tend to stay centered rather than building up on the side after pouring. Its overall balance is excellent!Last and perhaps the most enjoyable, is the fit of the lid. It seems to pair perfectly with the curvature of the cup lip. It fits so well that with some teas, no strainer is required! If this is your first gaiwan and you are interested in brewing Gong Fu style tea for yourself, this is a great place to start!

Happy with purchase
This is my first gaiwan so I have no basis for comparison; I have no idea what more expensive ones are like. However, I found this easy to use with a couple tries . Only a slight learning curve. Came as described and in perfect condition. I found that as long as it wasn't overfilled it does not burn my fingers even at 205+ temperatures. Feels good in my hand. the lid fits nicely when rested between gaiwan and saucer without lifting up the cup. Not sure what else one would look for in a gaiwan. No chemical smell upon opening package. Unfortunately, this gaiwan is on the smaller side so it makes it hard not to overfill. If you are looking to fill it up to where your fingers are comfortable it will produce about half a cup (in a normal sized teacup). Overfilling really doesn't produce enough to be worth burning your fingers though. I am using it to test tea and pouring in a teacup so not important if that's what you are using it for. Overall, pleased with my purchase.

Fine little gaiwan - ONLY HOLDS 70 mLs!
To reiterate - this gaiwan only comfortably holds about 70 mLs - no where near the 130 mLs the listing claims. This is a super cute baby's first gaiwan. It's a little light in the weight department, and the unglazed texture is a little off-putting for some (I started handling it and my husband just hated the noise it made in my fingers - he said it sounded like a chalkboard, which is not wrong). It also only comfortably holds 70 mLs, and I say comfortably as in that's how much it holds to let you handle the edges of the gaiwan and not burn yourself. I'd say maaaaaybe you could get 100 mLs if you fill it all the way up to the top. So if you're looking for something larger, this is not it. However, I wanted something cheap and small for my first foray into gaiwan brewing, and this fits that bill perfectly.

Good little Teacup
First I must say this vendor is very responsive. My first item was broken in shipping. I emailed them and they sent a second item right away with extra packing and I received it in perfect condition. Yes this cup is small, I have visited China and can tell you this size is normal for them. The Yixing clay used for this particular cup is only found in China, that is the beauty of this cup. It has a semi rough finish because you season it according to the type of tea you will use to drink out of it. If you were to buy a teapot made of this clay you will only brew one type of tea in it. You would use one for green tea only, one for black tea only, one for Oolong tea only etc. Yes they are delicate but when seasoned and used properly they will bring out more flavor in your tea. That is the hidden beauty in this clay.

Great little gaiwan that outperforms more expensive teaware
This great little gaiwan outperforms teapots that cost several times its price. The glazed interior is easy to clean, and the thick walls hold in heat well. I have had great success brewing puer, green tea, and herbal tea in this. My favorite pot for gongfu that I own. Perfect size for 1-2 people.
