The best for the price
Unless you have powerful wrists and sausage fingers, stick with the 7A or 7AN. They are slightly shorter and a smaller diameter than the 5A and being lighter, they are easier to flick around the snare and hat so you get a lighter touch and sharper response as a result. The flip side is that they are a little less robust than the 5A so I tend to break them fairly quickly - not so much because of hitting harder but simply doing more work because they are easier to manipulate. I have tried others and always come back to these.

Terrible quality, not worth the purchase
I ordered two pairs of these and although they arrived the next day, which was great, I can't say the same for the quality of these sticks. I've only ever used Vic firth sticks for the last 10 years now. Sticks usually last me a good few months but these, well, within an hour one snapped right through. I picked up one of the sticks from the other pair and today I can see they're close to breaking already. They look like they're a cheaper grade wood, almost like they were rejects from the good pile, glue running out from the nylon tips, and wood flaking off them like I've never seen before. All in all, I'm incredibly dissatisfied with this purchase and I'll definitely be shopping elsewhere in the future. It's a shame cause I paid good money for them and got a substandard product.

Ensure the sticks are genuine Vic Firth before you use.
First of all - genuine Vic Firth sticks are great. I have been a pro musician for over 30 years and Vic Firth wood tip 2b's are my preferred sticks. However, I usually buy from a local store where I can feel them and see them before I buy.As a regular purchaser from Amazon and a very happy customer with most of their Third Party Marketplace sellers, I decided to buy my sticks from here instead.I have bought two lots online so far.One sellers sticks felt the right weight when played and I was happy. When I needed more, they didn't have any wood tip 2B's in stock, so I bought from a different seller. When I used those sticks the first time, the ink smudged - that doesn't usually happen. And the sticks felt much lighter than usual. Something wasn't right. Are they genuine? Are they seconds that have slipped through the net?I contacted the seller who has refused to refund or exchange because the sticks have been used. Fair enough. My word against theirs.BUT PLEASE BEWARE WHEN BUYING STICKS ON THE INTERNET - IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T FEEL OR LOOK RIGHT ABOUT THEM, DON'T USE THEM. OTHERWISE YOU MAY BE STUCK WITH THEM.I will now [sorry Amazon] only buy sticks from a local store so that I can see them and handle them before playing. And I certainly won't buy anything else from that seller again.

Not just for Jazz!
I play in a rock/metal band and I'm a very hard hitter. After years of using 2B or 5A sticks because they lasted well and put up with the abuse, I tried out these "for a laugh". I wasn't laughing long because although they felt like pencils to begin with, I could play that extra 5% faster because (plain, simple physics) they are lighter. The piston in an F1 racing engine is very light so it can go up and down at ridiculous speeds - same applies here. You can accelerate these sticks much faster and consequently they'll hit the head going faster for a given force than a heavier stick. It works. Now - there's no denying that these don't last as long as a pair of 2B's but in all honesty, I've broken those in less than an hour from new as well so I figured if these lasted 45 minutes into the set but allowed me to play faster licks, it was money well spent. Now I don't bother with the heavier sticks - I just find them cumbersome and just order these by the dozen and if one breaks, I reach for another. So no - these won't last as long as a heavier stick (duh!) but for the time that you do have them - you'll be able to have more dynamics and play that little bit faster and to me that is more important. Each to their own though!

Comfortable. Defined
Great sticks. Have used promark for ages but went back to these particular F1 Vic Firth's after probably a 20 year gap. Great sounds. Bought 3 pair at once and all sound pretty much the same. Durable (so far; only been a week). Comfortable. Not much slip after a 3-hour rehearsal. If it carried on like this, these are my new go-to- stick.

The Amazon ones seem to be too light compared to shop bought
I'd bought some 8d sticks in Denmark Street having grown to hate the sd9s that a drum teacher recommended. I loved the slim profile and decent weight and length immediately and ordered two more pairs from Amazon. The Amazon sticks are not the same - I weighed them and they come in at 10g lighter per pair. I'll be going back to Denmark Street for some more good ones! The better pair weigh a fraction under 100g a pair.

Nice Drum Sticks!
These are lighter sticks suitable for learners, and were recommended by my 12 year old son's drum teacher. My son is very pleased with them, they definitely seem better than the unbranded sticks supplied with his snare drum kit. They feel good quality and my son uses them on his drum pad, electronic drums at home and acoustic drums at school. The price was reasonable so my son is happy to recommended them!

Good pair of sticks
Good 2B pair. I normally play with another pair of sticks but I needed a heavier model to "work out" my fingers and hands. It is good to practice your rudiments with a heavy pair of sticks. I got this pair pair to use on rudiment practice on my practice pad and they feel great. They are an original pair (one reviewer got a fake one apparently), they are evenly weighted and after a long trial the logo is still there and hasn't vanished as it would with the fake ones. Go for it if you want a heavy model (although there are heavier than this).
