Copy and paste review from the pudding from this same AP Shea brand
Just so you'll know. Im african american with curly kinky hair thats lightly texturized by this same African Pride Shea Butter texture kit thats supposed to compliment this pudding product. I used this in my hair with HIGH HOPES. The ingredients are listed in a manner that i assumed it would be very beneficial, good quantity of the good stuff with less fillers, and good quality. I washed and conditioned my hair and put this in my hair after. My hair felt fine. Kind of moist. Not greasy. But the consistency of this product is like a pudding that turns into more of a liquid when it's rubbed in. Like a lotion kinda. Getting to my 1 star. My hair dries and feels like its stringy and completely dead. Like extra dry plastic straw. So i thought that maybe it was because i didn't have enough in my hair. I used more. Same thing. Initial wetness then dries like straw. Im sooooooo disappointed. I will not be buying this again and i definitely wont recommend it. Do i hate the company, no. This product and the cheap texturizer, definitely no. I almost thought i would have to cut all my hair off. Luckily im nursing it back to a better state with Wen Fig shampoo, jojoba oil from dessert essence, and coconut oil from Nature's Way. I threw that in there just in case anyone was wondering. But try this product at your own risk.

It worked for me,....i'm happy for now!
I live in Jamaica and it is very hard to get good products for natural hair here. I have 3c, 4c hair, mostly the latter so for me it takes hours the get my hair done and i prefer to do it myself because the stylist i use thus far treat my hair too harsh and are ignorant and or dont care for the needs of my hair.Ok so i went to the beauty supply store to buy an Affirm LYE relaxer to "texlax" my hair and ran into this, and decided to give it a try.Went home checked Youtube for videos and only found one on this product so i did the next best thing; a strand test but instead of just one strand i did two test with a bundle of cut out hair each. After i was satisfied with the timed results i did my own hair.I made sure to follow the instructions in the kit to the letter, and completely saturated my hair with the Curl Control and when applying the relaxer i made sure to do it very fast. After the relaxer was in i then spent the rest of the time smoothing each section over and over again with my hands until the time was up.I was surprized to see i still had my curls and to me they were longer, smoother and easier to managed. My hair is in a weak state it breaks alot and i have a lot of split ends so for me this is good because i don't have to apply so much stress in trying to care for it.I would recommend this product highly just keep in mind it is a relaxer (one of the main ingredient is Sodium Hydroxide) so ensure you continue to deep condition and moisture your hair and use a lot of protective styles to try and keep ur hair healthy certainly the list of things to do to keep healthy hair does not stop there but these three r very important. Please note my hair was about 8-10 inches, fine to medium texture and to me one kit was a stretch i wish i had more of the relaxer to really saturate the hair, so i would advise you if you have more hair than that to get 2 kits or more depending on your hair length and texture and type. All the best.

Works great with a few tweaks
This product does exactly what it says it will. It elongates without sacrificing natural texture. It took my daughter's 4c hair to 4b and made it manageable. I no longer dread shampoo day. The trick to avoiding dryness is to spray/coat the hair with olive oil before application. I also applied a Shea butter creme to the scalp for added protection. Apply the texurizer on top of the olive oil and do not exceed the recommended processing time. I combined the neutralizing shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo and rinsed in cold water to seal the moisture in the cuticle. I skipped the aftercare products included in the kit and used my own leave in conditioner and moisturizing cream. The straightening cream contains lithium hydroxide as a key ingredient. Do your research on this chemical and make an informed decision.

12 years finally have the curls I want
I’ve been natural for 13 years and just about to give up back to a relaxer. I bought this to try it. Oh my gosh, it does what it’s supposed to. IAgree with pre oiling your hair and using conditioner you like more. Waiting to see how I feel tomorrow, and how it looks. I’ll try this for a year and make me a decision.

Im happy it doesnt elongate as much but eases the texture. i flat ironed my hair the next day and was amazed at how nice it flat iron i could wear my true length. thanks african pride shea butter
