Can't comment on durability as only just bought
The unit is small and compact. It allows HDMI in and then out to the tv. There was no noticeable difference on the picture quality on my JVC tv. Where it is very good is that it gives you an audio output for other devices if you're tv hasn't already got them. I wanted this as the JVC has no Scart or audio out other than the headphone socket, that automatically turns off the tv speakers. Be careful not to use Bluetooth speakers as there is nearly always a delay caused by Bluetooth that takes the lip sync out.

Fixes Xbox1 black screen streaming issue (on amazon prime video) 1080p
Cured an issue I was having with getting a black screen when trying to access amazon prime video after trying everything suggested by amazon and microsoft. Its apparently a common issue when trying to stream amazon prime video from an xbox 1 (or any device) using non HDCP 2.2 compliant equipment, in my case both my Yamaha AV amp and Samsung 27" curved monitor.Ive tried everything for over a year to fix this issue without having to replace all my AV equipment with HDCP 2.2 compliant equivalents, which would have turned out to be quite expensive. Considering the set up doesnt give me any problems with anything else, except streaming amazon video, it wasnt something I was prepared to do.This little box has fixed the issue without having to replace all of my kit, and for less than £20.I can only say for sure that it fixes this problem with a 1080p setup as I dont have any 4k (or above) equipment to test it on.Im not sure it was actually designed for this application, but it has fixed it and I can now watch amazon prime video in 1080p and 5.1 audio.

Works on its own only
Had this to extract audio from a nintendo switch (which it does with no problems or electrical noise so long as the power lead is installed) and happily transmits to a monitor. Unfortunately for some reason it will not work at all with a HDMI switcher that I also have hooked up to a PC, I've tried putting it before and after the switcher and it just messes with it, the switcher works automatically and flawlessly otherwise.

Stops HDCP message on screen
After moving a TV from one sky q box to another I got a your screen does not support HDCP AND AFTER SKY ENGINEER CAME OUT AND TRIED 3 DIFFERENT boxes decided my TV needed a software update even though it was over 4 years old although it was their signal that couldn't get to my TV because of their anti piracy software. So if your TV is old and you disconnect from sky you may need to buy a new TV unless you buy this splitter, it took a couple of minutes to connect and straight away I had sky with sound no thanks to sky. Try this splitter if your having problems with HDCP messages on screen.

Old hifi back in use.
Bought a new Samsung TV with no audio inputs for my old hifi, the unit I bought did the job perfectly, now I have surround sound back for films and music I play from my TV. Would have cost me hundreds of pounds to buy a new system, this great bit of kit saved me a fortune.
