Perfect for deadheading flowers to keep them blooming
I don't think I would use this to trim and edge grass; I much prefer a power trimmer to do that but I bought this to add reach so I can cut ripe flower heads that are trying to set seeds. My beds are 12 feet wide but are accessible front and rear; I now can reach in and trim the flowers in the middle of the bed. This has greatly extended my flowering season. I shop & receive so many items from Amazon that I no longer write reviews but this "grass edger" is the ideal tool for deadheading annuals and perennials. It is a "must have" tool for the serious gardener.

Useful
My husband, uses a weed eater in most places that I would use this, but sometimes he digs into the ground with it and it’s less than optimal. This is a little harder to use because you have to squeeze the handle, but it does very neat work.

These made my life better because I have back problems
This is very handy for clipping grass & most weeds. I bought it because I have to trim 100 feet outside my fence along the alley or you get a warning ticket from the village. The community service guy follows the street sweeper & checks out the yards. It is so much work to bring the weed wacker out to the alley & have the electric cord going over the fence (I have to plug it in 2 different outlets) that I decided to buy this. I tried just bending down with grass shears (same brand) the time before last but my back was then killing me. So it worked pretty well but those little tree type weeds have tough stems so you have to exert some pressure to snip them. I like them well enough to keep them & now I sometimes will do some yard snipping for an hour or less when I come home on nice days. My hand was sore after 100 feet in the alley. So these are good for limited snipping if you have trouble getting down to the ground. Next time I do the alley I will bring my handy collapsible stool so I can take a break midway. You would need a battery powered version to do more grass snipping. I would buy cordless battery version if they came out with one. These are good for what the weed wacker misses. Perfect for when you want to do a little light duty yard work for an hour or so. I think this would make a great gift for Fathers Day.

Meets expectations
Just received the item today. Was really excited to try it when I saw it. It was fun. My concerns from other reviews was its weight and amount of physical effort that would be required by my hands. I held it with both hands. I did not have a problem. It cut well for all the tall weeds and will help me to get the edges my manual mower can’t. It cut bunches of grass but a little less gracefully- like cutting large stacks of paper with scissors. I was also worried if the height would be tall enough. I did not have to stoop. (I am 60-65 inches tall.) I appreciate the thought that went into inventing this item. It is easy to use, not intimidating, and will be easy to clean and sharpen the blades. My only frustration is a lack of a storage case to cover the blades and securely store it in the garage. Other than that, yay to the end of landscaping machines!

Love the rotating handle
Bought this to add to my garden tools. Good size. Not too big or too small. Trims around eadges and trims my plants just fine.

Review & Comparison of all 3 Fiskars Grass Shears
I purchased all 3 of Fiskars grass shears (36" Long-Handled, Power-Lever, and Swivel Blade). After using them all, here's the details after actually using them. The long-handled is a great idea and makes trimming easier. Rotating blade stays in place when used. The tips of the first one I bought wouldn't cut so I returned it for a replacement. The replacement worked better, but the blades don't stay sharp for long. The blades for both the long-handle and the swivel blade shears are thinner and don't hold up. I GIVE THE LONG-HANDLED SHEARS A RATING OF 3.5.The swivel blade grass shears had a lot of issues. As just mentioned, the blades are thin & dull quickly. The blades also would occasionally rotate while trimming instead of staying in place (this was not an issue with the long-handled version). The switch to lock the swivel blade shears is on the side rather than on the top like their other models. This switch would slide down into the locking position about every 10 clips and was a nuisance with having to keep unlocking it. I GIVE THE SWIVEL BLADE SHEARS A RATING OF 2.The power-level shears performed very well. The blades are thicker/stronger than the other models and stay sharp longer. I had no issues with these. Well made! Excellent shears! I GIVE THE POWER-LEVER SHEARS A RATING OF 5.

Buying for 2nd time, liked it that much.
A replacement for one that we just wore out. Wish there were replacement blades available.

Work well in the garden
Sharp and easy on the hands. Can't say much more than that.
