Minky VT20500103 Retractable Reel Washing Line with 15 m of Drying Space, Grey

Very easy to install - a great sturdy washing line. Bought two props to go with it, otherwise the lines would sag to low once filled with clothing. Lines easily retract into casing. Much prefer it to my rotary!

This is a great product, it pulls out when you want to use it and automatically winds ip when putting away , very easy to use and worth every penny

Lovely design and look to this product. Keeps a necessary item compact and neat.I'm not sure it will stand the test of time as the plastic parts on the bottom don't appear to be very sturdy! I have read in other reviews that metal hooks have needed to be added.The line retracts well but slowly. I would say slightly over priced but does the trick.

Had these for years now and highly recommend as very sturdy.

Easy to install but will say that the screws that it comes with are of fine to poor quality so it would be good to have some spare.I purchased different hooks as they looks sturdier however the actual washing line is brilliant. Great strength, good size for what I need it. Over all good value for money would recommend.

There are mixed reviews on this but I took the chance. My own experience is it came with everything that it said it would, wasn't broken, no parts missing, easy to put up and works a treat

Our old minky dual-retractable line (maybe 20+ years old!) exploded 2 days ago so needed a decent replacement quick. Spotted this vs cheap chinese ones so went with Minky again.Usual speedy service from amazon.Arrived next morning. Instructions relatively clear but didnt specify the drill bit size to match the provided wall plugs. I used 7mm bit, and the plugs went in relatively tight, but then spun when putting the screws in... so probably need a 6mm bit. I put some fatter screws in and that expanded enough to lock in place.Pros- Comes will all the attachments, and 2 screw in hooks for the cable hooks.- Backplate fits to the wall easily enough- You can remove 1 of the fixing pins and it will rotate towards the other side. Not sure how strong just 1 pin is.Cons- Design of the case and fixing that cover the cable holes mean that you cant leave it attached to the wall; any rain will clearly just run inside and trash the internals.- As mentioned the instructions dont state a drill bit size, but its a simpel thing to work out how to put up without them.- The cable lock is RUBBISH. Smooth cable, plus small smooth plastic cam = cable slipping. I had to try and double-wrap... when it should just be big enough and strong enough to lock in place with a single loop. Minky clearly havent tested this in the real world! I cant recommend it... as it looks like its locked... and you hang stuff up... but then ever so slowly it slips and slips and your sheets end up on the floor. Not fit for its SOLE purpose of hanging laundry up! Ive given it a generous 3 as it seems well made... but functionality needs revising. My last one had a flat base, and flat plates with angled plastic into the gap so as it slipped it would just tighten and lock and stop slipping on its own; you never really had more than 2-3 inches of slippage.

This is the second of these Minky clothes lines that I have bought, with this one being a direct replacement for the first.The product is fairly easy to install if you can do a bit of basic DIY. Drill two vertically stacked holes in your wall, screw in the mounting post, and then slot the plastic housing containing the reel onto the top.Once in use, the clothes line is effective, you drag the end of the line over to your chosen attachment point, and then you walk back and wrap a section of clothes line around an oval shaped plastic retainer at the bottom of the reel housing, which keeps the line taught. What I found was that after maybe 3 or 4 years of use, the aforementioned plastic oval retainer became brittle and snapped off, meaning I could no longer anchor the clothes line.Apart from this issue, I had been completely happy with the product, so I chose to order the same again, as I already had the correct mounting post up on the wall.Taking the reasonable price into account, I felt that 3-4 years was decent value for the product. Plastic does become brittle and snap when constantly exposed to the elements, so you can't expect it to last forever if it's permanently kept outside. You could of course detach the reel from the mount (very easy to do, it simply slides on and off) and store it indoors or in your shed when not in use, which would no doubt prolong its life, although this would be a bit inconvenient.
