I got this for the purpose of sous vide. I just used a pen and outlined my hole for the circulator and cut it out with abox knife. This helps a lot with keeping the heat in and evaporation.

I use a silicone lid (Everie) with the 12qt. Rubbermaid container that I use for Sous Vide. But I wanted to use a smaller container for occasions when I have only one or two steaks to cook. I bought the 6qt. Rubbermaid container for that purpose, and it works great, but Everie does not make a lid to fit. This LDPE lid from Rubbermaid is not as flexible as the silicone lid, but it works just fine, with a little modification.As shown in the photo, I used a 2.125" hole saw to cut a hole near the proper edge of the lid. I then used a bandsaw to cut a passage to this hole from the edge of the lid. Easy-peasy, took me all of five minutes and the result looks factory made.

Bought for my 12 qt. plastic Rubbermaid brining tub and it fits perfectly.

Tight seal on Rubbermaid commercial food containers. System works well to organize dry goods in pantry. Hard to get lid on and too expensive, though

Works well for sou vide. You will need the container though.

I bought this to use with my storage container and sous vide. I used a utility knife to cut out a corner for the sous vide. The cover still snaps on and stays put. Keeps the water temp more constant than running the heater with an open container or using plastic wrap. Very happy with the lid and how easy it was to modify for my application.

We ordered this to do our sous vide cooking. It is easy to see how well meats are cooking. It is a light container and the see through aspects were what we were looking for.

Fits on the rubbermaid container very well. Not too difficult to cut (we made a cutout in the lid so that it would allow us to fit a sous vide on the container while keeping the lid on - to prevent evaporation over long sous vide sessions)

Used in conjunction with the 11.4 Litre container (http://amzn.to/29u2qEq) and the Anova precision cooker. Simply draw around the Anova holder on the lid and carefully cut out with a stanley knife. Lid creates a stable holder and a tight seal around the device.
