Another very handy and well built Makita tool to add with my other tools!
Not surprised but this is another great Makita tool! I'm a 4th generation framing carpenter, and have built homes for over 30 years! So dependable tools are a must, specially when you have employees that are rough with them! The only thing that could've made this Makita tool any better is if they'd of also put a light on it....hint hint! lolMost my favorite tools are made by Makita, including the best 18v cordless tools I've ever owned! And my all time favorite for over 25 years is any of the Makita circular saws I've had or still have and use almost every day! This USB port 18v charger is just another great and very handy tool to add to any Makita18v tool kit! Great for keeping your batteries alive too, specially if you don't use your 18v kit all the time.

You use Makita tools and don’t have one? Not yet.
If you or someone you know uses Makita cordless tools, then pick one of these up. I have been looking at this for a while now, and I’m very happy I purchased one. I like Makita because they boast the largest 18 volt cordless collection. They have several tools for every job. From busting concrete with one of their many hammer drills to making a cup of joe with the Makita coffee maker, that uses this adapter, while the Makita auto vac sweeps up the site for you. They've got you covered.I plan on using it while camping. No doubt it will get used when I forget to charge my phone and I’m stuck on site with no power.I also love the fact that there is an on off switch.Downside:Because the usb cover is one piece. I see that coming off and leaving you without either cover. I’d use tape to keep dirt out. Also, the belt clip seems a bit under done. Not sure I’d use it normally, but taking into consideration the weight of the batteries I don’t think it’s a viable carry option. They have however added a place to hook a lanyard on, so back on track. In conclusion I’m all for it. A wonderful expansion for the batteries you already have.

Great for work site USB charging but don't expect endless power
Recently I purchased a Makita 18v combo kit with a drill and impact driver. Since I only use my tools for home diy projects, I wanted to have another use for the batteries and hope a more constant use would help keep them cycled. For some reason these USB chargers are rarely seen at my local big box store and first heard about them from a review on the DeWalt version. Pricing is slightly cheaper on the Makita version, and has two USB ports which is a plus. First impressions is the build quality of the charger is nice, plastic feels like the same material as the power tools, if I can quote AvE it's a glassfiber reinforced plastic (don't quote me on that). The version I received has the USB ports sealed with a simple rubber cap and sliding on/off switch for the ports. The charger also has a belt clip that feels strong but I didn't use this. Honestly I think it would hold up to 5ah batteries, it's just too bulky to have in your belt and walk around. The figment was very tight to the Makita 5ah battery I tested, actually nice to see this since some brands have very loose connections. No issues removing or connecting the battery.I tested the charging with a 5ah battery on four bars (Makitas version of a full pack) but it was used on my impact for an hour or so, technically not 100% full. Charging my iPhone worked pretty quickly, I think the rate was the same as any wall charger or portable battery charger like those 10000mah packs. When I switched to charging my 4th gen iPad, the iPad was at 0% and took about two bars to charge the iPad. I was a bit surprised how much it took to charge the iPad but I think it's normal considering the 5ah pack has only a cell or more than those USB portable battery packs (correct me I'm wrong). If you only need a USB charger, Amazon has a few that are cheaper than buying this charger considering the cost of a Makita battery is at least $40.For everything that is presented on this product is 100% and going to keep this in my toolbox for charging, don't forget to pick up an extra cable for your phone as well. There is one call out which I have seen mentioned on other reviews is the risk of draining your battery too low. Some of the battery packs have logic that if the pack is entirely 0% charge it may register as faulty and no longer work. I haven't experienced this nor do I know Makita has this enabled but I recommend to only use this as a topping off charger for your phone.

Good quality. Easy to use. Nice to have the option to charge devices from your tool battery.
