Works fine
Now that SONOS have finally added DTS support to their projects, I'm now able to directly connect my Nvidia Shield to the Playbar directly, well, via another device because our Sony TV won't pass DTS through to the optical connection.I'm using a HDfury Vertex which takes the audio from the HDMI stream and passes it out of the optical link (which requires this adaptor) and into the Playbar, the HDMI gets passed on to the TV.The long and short of it is that I now get DTS sound on the Playbar, and this finally resolves a lot of sound issues that were caused by the lack of DTS support. This adaptor is very single and is nothing more than a mechanical coupler from the TOSLINK to the TOSLINK mini socket, no magic, but it works fine.

Just the job
No downsides. Just a good product at sensible money.

Doesn't work and stuck on cable
The adapter doesn't work and also got stuck on my optical cable. The only way of removing it now is by cutting it off, no chance I'll get a return.Just avoid and look at getting a proper optical to jack cable instead of this adapter.

good value
unfortunatly this adaptor did not work with my laptop, i still get no sound going out the the seperate speakers. it was good value for what it is, although it was a day late arriving, but it did get a good response from the company.

Excellent with Chromecast
Yes does exactly what it says it does. Using with a Chromecast Audio. To reiterate a point by another reviewer. This does not make non optical ports into optical ports by magic. Check your documentation or just look into the socket. If you see a red light then you should be good. Not 5 stars because build quality isn't there but no problems so far and for this price wouldn't really expect more.

Does the job on a MacBook Pro and 3.5mm headphone jack
Used for a couple of days with a MacBook Pro (Mid 2015), a turtle beach DSS2, whilst playing CS:GO.All working nicely with no issues, with Mac OS’ ‘Sound preferences” recognising my headphones as “digital out”.Pros:- Cheap- compatible with standard optical sound cable- plugs nicely into standard 3.5mm jack slot.Cons:- none thus far (perfect for my needs)
