Hallmark Lionel Train 700E Hudson Steam Locomotive 1996 Keepsake Ornament

If you like trains, and I do, these are pretty much a must have for your tree, or even just to put on a shelf display at Christmas time. They are a little heavy for a tree, and tend to bend the branches down quite a bit, so I positioned them on a branch that had a shorter limb, which gave it a bit more sturdiness. These are made of a metal of sorts, not a plastic, which is what I would have thought to be a better choice for a tree ornament. Still, they are nice. The paint job is very good, wouldn't pass for a discriminating modeler on a layout, but very good just the same. The lettering is clean and crisp. The size of the locos are about N scale, if you know what that is, and they almost fit the N scale track, but not quite.

I ordered this for a friend, the 1st of the Lionel train ornaments. It is well made, well designed and turns out to be the same my friend had as a child. What better gift. Wish I had the Tender as well. A fun addition to one's collection of Christmas ornaments.

I collect classic cars, and have a handful of classic car ornaments annually hanging on my Christmas Tree given to me by friends. But, I also have a Lionel Model Train Collection that I run regularly and especially every year under the tree. Plus, I have a Hudson as part of my Lionel collection. Then, it dawned on me that none of my friends ever gave me a train ornament and I had none on the tree. Duh! So, I decided to give myself a gift and purchased this one. I love it!! Reminds me how much I love Steam Locomotives which were still running when I was a kid!
