AtacamaAtabites Speaker Stand Filler (SMD-Z 7.5HD)

I have filled my Atacama Nexus i speaker stands with the Atabites. Yes you can use sand, concrete, depleted uranium etc. etc, but I like this material, it’s density and effect. I previously used it to ballast Tannoy speakers, with a very good effect. It is a little messy (fine and oily) so spread newspapers and take your time. It’s worth the effort.The Nexus i speaker stands are now vey solid and the effect on the sound of my KEF LS50 Mk2 speakers is really impressive.

Very practical and serve its purpose. The only downside is ut is a bit expensive but considering it could used a long time , this is not an issue anymore .

I bought this to fill a pair of Atacama Moseco 6 Speaker Stands (also purchased from Amazon.)There is enough content in one tub to fill the stands to approximately 2/3 full (which is the volume Atacama recommend.)Please note, you will need a funnel to fill your speaker stands. I used a salt dispenser for the dishwasher and it worked perfectly! Without this, you will almost certainly spill the Atabites on the floor and they are very small, so expect to be finding them for a few days!I noticed a difference in sound quality immediately - there is more weight to the bass and even the treble seems to be lighter. The stands themselves are now more solid and far less prone to vibrations and ringing.This item may seem expensive, but I think the improvements in sound quality more than make up for the cost.

It would appear Atacama have the monopoly on atabites therefore they pick their price. I’ve no idea what production actually costs so maybe they aren’t so unreasonable, regardless this does seem a little expensive.The product itself is exactly what you’d expect, it works very well for the intended purpose. My stands are SS-7’s and unfortunately for me they require approximately 9-10kg. Atacama only sell atabites in quantities of 7kg so I’ll have to buy a second tub. My predicament suggests a selection of tub quantity sizes (and related costs) would prove greatly beneficial from a consumer standpoint if not the seller.

my 2nd bucket of this stuff, I'd already half filled the the fillable column in my speakerstands and liked how the soundstage had seemed to tighten up, it's not recommended filing the 'stand completely, but I thought it worth a try and it worked, very focused sound now and somehow more body too.

My Atacama nexus 600 stands have 2 pillar's per stand and needed 2 tubs.good product add slot of weight and stoped any ringing from stand improving sound quality slightly.

They work very well

I heard that filling hollow speaker stands could reduce resonance and improve the overall sound of a hi-fi system. I got this product to fill my stands - tiny metal discs that form a very dense weight. They flow well through a paper funnel into the speaker stand. The only problem is, this can doesn’t go very far. I divided the contents in half and used each half for each 1m stand, but they only filled about a third. The filled part of the stand no longer rings if you tap it, but I think I will top them up with rice.
