Sky DRX890WL 500GB Black SKY+ HD Set-top

As anyone would expect, this Sky+HD box is far superior to the old Amstrad/Thomson boxes which seemed to have design faults which Sky didn't care about. It gives a fine clarity of picture and of course has an Ethernet socket which makes it much more widely usable. Having two Dish Inputs also enables you to watch one programme and record another. I found the box relatively easy to set up, although with no "sticker" on the back saying which version of the box this was, it was only the "UPS" on the front that gave me a clue that it did not require any telephoneline-input whereas the old boxes did.. However, the seller provides copious instructions and would probably be willing to help anyone who got totally lost.

Bought this in September - Chigwell Satellite fulfilled by Amazon but only recently installed. Box is brand new and there are very (very) helpful installation notes enclosed in the box from Chigwell. The box comes with power and HDMI cables, a new Sky remote and batteries. Installation was very straight forward and the viewing card from the old box paired with no problem. I was replacing an Amstrad DRX780 which is aged and only received updates to firmware Ro10 and which required the external wifi box. I updated the new box to the current Ro18 (came with Ro13)and its all working great with integrated wifi. Used io link to continue sending rf signal to other TVs in the house over co-axial (the new box doesn't have an rf port).The box works/navigates faster than the old one and now has Sky Store Movies etc.I feel that Chigwell go that wee bit "extra" in helping ensure that the customer is happy - re the helpful instructions etc - rather than being "box shifters"

Ordered this on the Thursday evening and it was delivered on the Saturday morning. It came with a remote and HDMI cable. However the software version in the old Sky + HD and I'm sure over the next few weeks it will update itself. The item seems brand new, there were no old recordings I could find on my unit! Was a simple job to replace my old box which suddenly stopped working. Going online to sky was simple to get the box paired with my viewing card and start to work. Great price too.

Arrived as expected, the next day (but delivery obviously only relies on the courier - so I wouldn't have blamed the company if it was late). Boxed and then boxed again - so double protection.What I can't figure out is if it was a brand new Sky box (it certainly looked like it), or if it was second hand - although I don't really mind either way as it was like brand new - and I probably haven't read all the blurb properly anyway.Connected it up and follwed the instructions enclosed within and - lo and behold - all working great. Even when I contacted Sky (Aaaaagh!) to pair my viewing card, that was automated and totally painless, so stress levels stayed low.Full marks to Chigwell Satellite and to Richard who was struggling to hold the fort due to low staffing levels that day (I believe he was multitasking).Of course, this now means that I will have to polish all the other items in the TV cabinet - as the new Sky box is standing out like a sore thumb!Only a couple of weeks(?) but still going strong.Just an update (March 2023) - still working fine and no complaints whasoever. I'm very happy with my sky plus hd box with built in wifi.I recently joined sky and purchased multi room as I like watching the sports and discovery channels and my wife likes watching other genres. The multi room box sky supply wont allow you to record, pause live or even watch catch up tv even though I'm paying £10 extra a month! Sky would have charged £250 for a second recordable box.The engineer said that I could pick up a second hand sky box for about £30, the box I purchased cost £23.99 and it's exactly the same model as we have on our main box, I'm really happy with this box which was described as having scratches and general wear and tear, I could only find one mark on my box which also comes with remote control and the leads. The postage was free, the item was dispatched the same night and I received it 3 days after ordering.I can't find fault with the box or the service, I'm a very happy customer.

When the old sky box started playing up with failed recordings, unable to pause and clashed recordings I thought it was time for an upgrade. I thought it would need a phone call to Sky but luckily I decided to search through Amazon and came up with this little beauty. Ordered on Wednesday morning it arrived on Friday morning and I set about an installation. Intriguingly the box did not contain an instruction booklet but a quick internet search revealed a video on the Sky site. I followed these instructions and it was installed, connected to the internet and working in no time. I then setup the remote TV upstairs using a Triax box ordered at the same time as the Sky box and this involved turning the RF power on for the output and selecting a different channel. Again all this is explained on the Sky site in the help and support section. My final task was to programme the remote control for my Sony TV and once again I turned to the internet for the code and the key sequence on the remote. All now working and I must confess I should have done this years ago, the picture quality is stunning and the functionality has improved greatly especially with the internet connection and the catch up TV. Price wise I think it was about right given the functionality and the usage we will get from it.

This does not have WiFi as stated but has cable connector instead.It comes without any setup or user instructions. It is obviously not new and looks used. Probably had a new hardrive fitted. It was easy to setup .After connecting all the cables simply insert the sky card then go to 106 sky 1 and a message states that the box needs to veryify the card ..press select and 20 seconds later. You are setup and ready to go.
