What has taken getting used to most of all with this remote is its size. It's noticeably smaller than the original and, by extension, the button layout is different, so acclimating to the new remote control has a bit of a learning curve.This is not to say it doesn't work as well as the original remote, (it does), it's just getting used to it after having used the original remote for twelve years. That there is a replacement for the original remote available after all these years is where my appreciation truly shines; it would have been a real disappointment to find that my WD Live Hub was no longer usable.If you're in need of a replacement remote for your WD media player, this should fit the bill nicely.

This is a great replacement remote for WD products.I have been using a WD TV Live to view terrestrial TV programs personally recorded from Japan over a decade. The genuine remote has physically worn: The surface coating has peeled off, I tried gluing the split housing several times, etc. What was most annoying was that the remote's IR beam was so sharp that I had to aim at the player very precisely.This inexpensive remote solved everything. In addition, it is smaller and lighter to fit in a hand. It misses ten-keypad. But it was rarely used and usually OSD soft keypad would suffice.It seems to be compatible with a wide range of WD products. I would recommend it to everyone who are suffering the same issues I had.

Good replacement remote for WDTV.

YEAH! We finally have responsive buttons on a remote that works with the original WD Live Hub media box (the one with a hard drive inside). The only reason we gave it 4-stars is because this remote does not have the colored buttons which is required to switch sources (so that we can select an alternate WD Live Hub on the same network from the WD Live Hub we have connected to).We will be buying a 2nd remote for the other WD Live Hub unit in the house, as a back up remote.

This remote also worked for WD TV Live Streaming Media Player, Model WDBHG70000NBK-HESN with no problems.Pros: Much raised to handle than OEM "Star Trek phaser" remote with too many buttons which came included with original WD player, small - easy to handle.Cons: none compared to original OEM "phaser" remote but when comparing to modern competitor's remotes no earphone.Bottom line: If you have family members who avoid using the WD media players because the intimidating WD OEM "phaser" remote which WD switched to, you need to get this. I would definitely recommend this model.Note: WD media players were the first one we bought before Roku, Amazon and Apple broke open the market. WD was a pioneer in the streaming and local HDD market but they just suddenly stopped their momentum.I hope they return to the game, they had true innovations way ahead of other competitors.

Works great as a replacement for the original

I've been using Western Digital Live TV Hubs since 2010 and the remotes, while good for 8 years, start to lose functionality until finally they need to be replaced.The remote I just purchased does the job well & for only a little over $10 as opposed to finding an original for this legacy product for $25+ if you're lucky enough to find one brand new ( the WDTV Live Hub hasn't been made since 2013.

Compared to the original, the size is small and better. This replacement has lasted me longer than the original. Even though it is missing some of the features, they can still be accessed easily from menus, and the size more than makes up for it.
