Helped poor, clay soil. Boosted another fertilizer.
I used to live in an area that was almost completely clay soil. We had the hardest time growing anything and having it survive. I talked to someone at a local nursery who suggested I add some phosphate to the soil since the vegetable and flower output on my plants was low. He told me that the middle (N-P-K) number would be the one that I want the highest in a fertilizer or I could just buy some phosphate. After researching, I decided to try this rock phosphate as I thought it would be a slower release and longer lasting. After a full season, it definitely ended up working out well. I noticed that the tomatoes were larger, more colorful and more plentiful than they had been the last two seasons. The flowers were coming in very bright and I had tons of blooms. If flowers died, more would come in constantly. After last season I decided to pull up the dead tomato plants to see how the roots were. The plants were cemented in place so I had to use a shovel to get them out. Most of the roots were small but there were tons of them. The large taproots were quite long. The leaves of the plants looked dark green all year but did wilt every now and then due to my bad watering habits. The plants were so large that I had to water them constantly to keep up with the fruit/flower production. When I applied it, all I did was sprinkle it sparingly here and there throughout the garden and flowerbeds. Some spots, like near the larger tomato plants, I dropped a little extra near the base of the plant. One thing to take note with this review is that I did use an all-purpose fertilizer with a 16-16-16 npk rating. The reason I felt the need to get this rock phosphate was that I wanted to boost the phosphorous number but not too much. I didn't want to shock the plants by over fertilizing them. I also wanted something that was longer lasting. I put down one bag of this last season. I have a small garden and few flowerbeds. It worked out perfectly, even gave some to my dad. The all-purpose fertilizer that I used in conjunction with this dissolved almost immediately when I watered it. They were small pellets that didn't last long. I believe the all-purpose fertilizer lasted about one, maybe two weeks depending on how much I put down when I used it. This rock phosphate is a great boost to any fertilizer and it won't over stimulate your plants. I highly recommend it. As long as you don't put down too much and don't use it over and over in one season, this will give you some awesome results, especially in poor, clay, Utah soil. :-)

Espoma Rock Phosphate
I purchased this to use in planting my asparagus. I just planted it, so I don't really know what the results will be, but I am hoping for the best. An article I read about planting asparagus recommended adding this to the soil when you first plant asparagus, so I did. Time will tell if it works well. The only thing I can add right now is that it was easy to use.

Great for flowers and vegetable plants !
I’ve looked in 4 different stores for this item. Unable to find this item in stores I had to order from Amazon. I’m assuming the price is acceptable because I had been unable to find in stores. What I do know is I love this product to add nitro to my plants, quickly.

Is this rock phosphate?? UPDATE: Yes.
UPDATE: Espoma has confirmed this is their product.Previous review below:I've purchased Espoma Rock Phosphate many times locally before (not from Amazon). The product is usually smaller dark grey/gray beads or chunks. What I received from Amazon order is larger, light brown, chunks (see pics). Very different from any other rock phosphate that I've seen before. The packaging looks good though.I obviously opened the bag and doubt I can get a refund but I just don't want to kill my plants with some unknown product if it is indeed not rock phosphate.
