Hunter Industries Hydrawise Pro-HC 6-Station Indoor Wi-Fi Irrigation Controller,Gray

I purchased the Hunter Pro-HC controller (indoor/wifi enabled/with Hydrawise) to replace my Hunter Pro-C controller that was originally installed with my sprinkler system. I wanted to be able to monitor/control the system remotely and I wanted a smarter controller that looks at weather forecasts and local weather condition data to determine if watering is needed. This controller met both of my requirements and then some.The install was fairly straight forward. The size of the controller boxes are almost identical so I was able to use the mounting screws and location from my old controller. Wire connection points were almost identical (see photos). The only curve ball was that I had to replace my installed Solar Sync outdoor sensor with the Hunter RFC (rain/freeze) outdoor sensor as the Solar Sync sensor is not compatible with the Pro-HC. The new sensor is about $60 and connects to the SEN-1 and SEN COM terminals in the Pro-HC.Setup was quick and easy. You connect the controller to your Wi-Fi (controller walks you through this once you plug it in), download the Hydrawise App, creat an account, and configure the controller (through a wizard in the app). If you are familiar with the Hunter Pro-C setup (programs, zones, days to water, duration, etc.) it is very easy. There are new settings you need to configure like “don’t water if it has rained X number of inches in the last 24 hours” and “don’t water if there is greater than 80% chance it will rain in the next 3 days”. These new Hydrawise settings should save me a ton of money on my water bill. Oh, and did I mention now you can start your sprinkler zones with your phone instead of running back and forth to your garage!If you are looking for a very easy replacement for your existing Hunter (or any other brand) controller that adds Wi-Fi capability and advanced water saving features then you can not go wrong with this Hunter Pro-HC controller.

My 12 year old controller took a lightning strike that blew out a zone so I was looking for a new wifi controller. Read reviews of half dozen wifi controllers and this Hunter came out on top for my needs. Setup wizard was straight forward getting controller registered and connecting to wifi. Interface is easy to follow. Programming was easy to figure out. Getting good wifi signal in garage with router located 40 feet away thru four walls and a floor. Working as expected for past week. So far so good.

Something went wrong with the original hunter sprinkler control. Rather than try to repair it my neighbor suggested that I upgrade to a smart Hunter control. I purchased that but while researching and learning about the controllers and their capabilities, I purchased and installed this model. I just love it. With the old technology I would be away from home or even just in my bed and want the sprinklers to run. Now of course I can run sprinklers from anywhere effortlessly and for as long as I like. This came in handily for sod that I installed. I was able to run the sprinklers several times a day until the sod got established. I love being able to identify the zones by pictures that I took, and I like being able to be outside and make adjustments to the co trim and seeing how the system reacts. The installation and set up was easy peasy and I had no need for technical support. The control itself look really modern and techs with its blue light to show that it is working. Bad weather knocked it offline and I got a message that this would not interfere with the schedule being kept. When I got around to it I reset my router and the control jumped back on line. I did not have to touch it. The weather sense feature is very good. It schedules all of the skips for changes in weather and notifies you that it is changing the schedule due to weather. I also go a notice that it adjusted the schedule to support the change in seasons- start of summer. I am totally pleased.

This particular model has generous wire connection room and the additional cover that protects the touch panel.WiFi Internet (2.4Ghz) and free cloud account are required to program this from a computer, tablet or smartphone. During an Internet outage, the controller still retains the last program and will continue to use it. However, it will not operate the sprinkler valves during a power outage (no battery backup). Programming is maintained during a power outage without the need for any battery (non-volatile memory technology).Internet is not required for this product, but I would recommend a cheaper controller if you don't plan on programming the controller using the Internet.Programming options are numerous and range from simple timed zones to fancier options involving incorporating weather information from cloud heuristics. Some do mention that they want multiple and closer weather station input which is not free. One must subscribe for an additional fee (I don't). I find that the existing "virtual" weather station provided using Hunter's logic works good enough for me.If designing a new irrigation system from scratch, I highly recommend buying the Hydrawise flow meter that is compatible with this controller. That lets you know gallons usage and monitor for water line breakage such as if a mowing service clips a sprinkler head.Overall, a great product. Recommended.

Poor instruction. Had to down load the App and run it through my phone and I just wanted it to water my lawn

Love that it is WiFi so it makes it easy to water. Easy to program. Works like a champ!

I purchased this unit and it installed quickly Programmed it will my phone and the apt was easy BUT no were in the listing did it state that it was an INDOOR controller not for outside use
