I was leery of buying an Equinox 600/800 due to the many complaints re quality control. I always wanted an Equinox, though, no question, so when the 700/900 was released it was a no brainer for me. I did hedge my bets slightly, by opting for the cheaper 700, but, as yet, I haven’t regretted my decision. I don’t feel I’m missing out on anything thats going to massively impact my detecting day. The separation on this detector really is rather good as you will discover if you get it 'in the iron'. It’s nice to swing too, not ultra light weight like the Deus but light enough, nicely balanced too. The carbon fibre stem is a welcome addition, a tad lighter and a whole lot stiffer, which makes for a very nice detector to swing for long periods. The VDI in multi frequency mode is nice and steady. Another VDI related plus point is the new expanded VDI range, which is much better.So then, the bottom line: does multi frequency make a real difference on farmland? It does give you an edge, for sure. It won’t transform your finds rate, in my opinion, but it should mean a little bit more of the nice stuff finds its way into your finds pouch.I think this detector is a good deal for a hair under 800 sheets. Well made, comfy to swing, fairly easy to use if you have experience and not difficult to learn if you are a newcomer, given time and a little patience.A very good detector.
