Best one out there, but you need to know how to use it to get good results.
I bought this unit from Amazon in April, 2014. We have a greenhouse (erected in 1975) that we use as a shop and storage area It contains plastic paint cans, insecticides, grass seed, you name it. The rats chewed through everything; rat feces were everywhere– not to mention leaking paint and insecticides. This is the only solution (of many tried over the years) that works perfectly. Unless it's turned off (as happens, but rarely), we have no sign of rodent pests. The reasons seem to be multiple.• The unit generates audible sound as well as inaudible high frequency sound. For rodents, both repel, and they seem to work better together. The audible sound does a better job of penetrating all hiding places.• You can set the sound mixture for the size of animal- a lower frequency mix is more effective for larger critters (e.g. mice>rats>raccons> foxes- yes foxes!). You can also set the volume.• Placement is a key element. High frequency sound is like light- it travels in straight lines. If the unit is placed carelessly, there are a lot of spots where the sound won't bother (and hence repel) rodent intruders. I suspect that one reason this unit worked so well for us is the glass walls on the greenhouse. Great reflector for ultrasonic noise! A second reason is the mixture with lower frequency noise (which does a better job of invading nooks and crannies).• The proper sound mixture for rodent repelling offends humans (because of the audible– to us– component). I solved this problem by putting the unit on an inexpensive timer. It runs every night, from 8:30 pm to 7:30 am. It's on when no-one is there. Outside the greenhouse the sound is quiet enough that it is barely audible. No problem. Before the timer, our handyman (who came several times during the week) would just turn it off, because he came to hate the sound (then, once again, we'd have rats). If you need to have the unit on (to repel rodents) when humans are in the space, you'll have to use a less effective (largely ultrasonic) setting, unless the humans are deaf. However, the choice of setting is yours, and one of the reasons the compromise between repelling humans and pests is manageable.Another example helps illustrate why these devices work, but need to be appropriately applied:We're in the country, and have our two vehicles outside of a garage, under a car port. Twice we've had repairs to one of the cars because of rodent damage to the wiring. In both instances, damage occurred to the car (at night) within a few days, while the cars were being actively driven during the day. The cost of repair, in both instances, ran into several thousand dollars (wiring harnesses are expensive, and labor is significant). It could have been worse– we were told that if we had driven the cars after the damage, the damaged computerized smog controls could have required an engine rebuild. After the first instance, we ultimately tried placing an ultrasonic generator (one of the small Victor units) under the engine block of each car. No more damage until a year ago (almost ten years later). Inspection then revealed that one of the units had failed (even though the small red light, showing that it was plugged in, was still illuminated). Lesson learned: make sure the unit is still buzzing, not just that the light is on. (I believe the ultrasonic unit worked here because it radiated in every direction; the rodent couldn't approach without a line of sight connection to the sound generator. In sum: I'm convinced, after forty years of trying multiple solutions– and four years with this device– that it works, given several constraints:• The device needs to be placed so that sound reaches the areas that you want pest free (and ideally, entry points in particular). You can't just arbitrarily place it anywhere in the space you want to protect, and realize good results.• The generated volume needs to be commensurate with the size of the space that you want to protect. A small noise in a large space is much more likely to be ineffective.• A mixture of ultrasound and audible sound is most effective for mammals; the larger the animal, the more effective an audible component will be.• Where there are human/pest conflicts (no noise for humans, repelling noise for the pests), this device has two options. (a) you can set it in a less intrusive mode (and possibly less effective) if desired. and (b) a timer often resolves the issue of separating the two populations. If they are driven out during the time when human activity isn't present (and hence not a deterrent), they are less likely to persistently intrude when humans are present.Given these considerations, this is- hands down- the best sound pest repeller I've ever used. And, at least in our context, it works reliably. Five stars!

Died in less than 12 hours
I bought this device to help chase squirrels out of the attic in my garage. I received it on the evening of February 6th, set it up and it appeared to be working well. A loud audible noise was being broadcast by the pest repeller. I shut the garage door and could still slightly hear the unit in operation. This morning my wife called me at work to see if I had turned the device off as there was no noise coming from the garage. I told her I would check out the unit when I returned home in the late afternoon. I went to the garage and found the repeller with the red power light on - but no audible sound coming from it. I tried changing the settings to see if I could coax the unit back to life, but it was DOA.For now I have rated the repeller one star. I have requested a replacement and will update this review accordingly.I received a replacement unit from Amazon and it worked for about a week. Now it is no longer emitting an audible sound. However, even when it was blasting out the loud obnoxious sound, the squirrels in the attic of my garage were happily living right next to it.This device is totally worthless. It is not even worthy of a 1 star rating.I am returning the second unit for a refund.

Works Like a Charm!
It's hard for me to believe that this great product gets negative reviews. They are either not using it correctly or are expecting something else. This Rodent repeller does indeed work and will keep them out wherever it is at. I have bought several of them over the years and several from this vendor right here on amazon and even keep a spare just in case one gives out, in which never has yet.I had a mouse problem at my residence and for the life of me can't figure out how they're getting in... It got so bad that I was trapping several of them within a weeks time. I tried several of the plug in electronic models on the market and they did nothing and continued trapping them despite I had them all over the house. I bought the Bird-X Transonic Pro and put in my kitchen, as that where it appears where they get in and where they were sighted most of the time... Well, low and behold the mice disappeared. I haven't seen a mouse since I put this device in employment. I set it on a kitchen counter top and it works throughout the whole house... The secret is, is to have your doors open so that the sound can infiltrate all the rooms. Works like a charm... I even left my traps set up for several days after turning on the unit and they were gone! No more trappings or mice... I turn this on every day when I leave the house and that's enough to keep them out!OK, for those that say it's loud. Yes it's loud but that's how it does it. The screech this unit puts out, is what drives them out. They simply don't like this sound and will not set-up camp any where this unit is set up... You have to turn on the unit when you are away for the day. You will not be able to have it on while you're in the same area, or at home, so don't get the idea that you can, yes, it's loud and has different settings too. To repel mice, the medium setting works just fine and has a second selector switch for rodents and depending what you're trying to repel has different selections.Another plus is that I haven't seen a spider or any other insect since this unit has been in employment. No webs to clean anywhere. My house is spotless of such creatures of all kinds.I recently seen a mouse at my business out in the garage area where there is much stock and boxes everywhere... I haven't seen a mouse or evidence of in the 21 years I have owned the building. I immediately went and got one of the Transonic Pro out of storage and set it up in there and turned it on... I hope it will get rid of the darn things before they take over. That's all I need is to have a rodent problem in this area as there are many boxes of stock everywhere and it would be a night-mare.I ordered another one of these units yesterday from this vendor to have as a spare and if also things get worse and they get in the main section of the building. If used properly, these units work great and will make the atmosphere turbulent for mice and they will not settle in and will drive them out. Yes traps do work but why make them feel cozy enough to settle in to trap. Drive them out before they do with the Transonic-Pro... Yes, they do work but you have to run it when you're not home or in an area where you can't hear it, depending on what you're trying to repel.Good luck and I hope this gives you an idea as to how the Transonic-Pro works. I have turned this unit on every day when I leave for work for several years and have been rodent and insect free since and now have one set-up at the garage section at my business as well and hope that, that little beast excited the same way he got in, I hate those things and make me jump too...LOL... Good Luck All!

Interesting!!!
I bought 3 total because I was getting bats , at the least 2 times a month. So far so good. Interesting part is I was getting Nat’s , fruit flies ( whatever they are ) in my kitchen. I put out the dish soap and apple cider vinegar same day I set the box up and I notice I wasn’t catching anything in the jars but the Nat’s , fruit flies were almost gone. And today (24 hrs later) they are completely gone. Wowzee !!!!! Absolutely awesome. I looked to see if it was for them too but couldn’t find in paper work on box or In Any reviews. If there is any I didn’t see it.
